I'm new to your site so thats why I'm just joining into your discussion. I've been raising champagnes for 5 years now and we are very competitive at the convention level,we;ve brought 5 trophies home from the last 3 conventions.We always have juniors for sale,our current bunch will be ready for sale at the mini convention in Columbus,Ohio first week end in May.
We have know trouble with type including shoulders which I saw mentioned as a primary problem,I currently have 4 pretty nice bucks for sale, all good type getting close to 4 months old.

not properly posed, I was so excited and using a cell phone camera. the first pic is Bethany, 6 month old doe, second is Aramis, 6 month old buck, and the last is Missy, 6 month old doe. Missy and Bethany are from the same litter.

I just bought my first doe! Getting a buck next week, but he is just a baby...won't be able to breed them for a long time! At what age do you breed these guys? Anything specific I should know about the breed? I've been raising Rex mix for a while, but these Champagne D'Argent are totally new to me! How much do the kits go for with and without paperwork? Just curious because ours are $45 a piece where I'm at with paperwork. But NO ONE else sells them around here that I can find!

Not sure what part of Texas you're in. I got my first ones from Holman over in Grand Prairie. He's got a lot of Rascher bloodlines... she's further south, halfway to Houston I think. I plan on making a run her way in the spring to get some more does.
 
Anything here without a pedigree pure or not and rare breed or common doesn't sell for more than $20. Usually $10. The pedigreed breeding age champagnes I got were $40-$50 without a show record. If they've done well on the table they can push $100.

Good to know! Paid $45 for my doe who is registered.
 
I just got my first one about a week ago. I don't know if it's the lines or just this specific rabbit, but...what a personality!! He's awesome. I swear he's part rabbit, part cat, part dog and part goat, LOL. He's laid back and calm, very curious, throws himself on the floor and rolls around like a dog scratching its back and likes to grab my buttons and such and pull on them, LOL. I got him to cross with my SF for meat but jeez, if they're all like this I may have to also get a doe or two.
 
Well we got our buck, but we had a terrible tragedy with our beautiful doe. My cat, who loves me and is great with all my other animals, wanted to be near me so he jumped near my does cage while I was feeding her. She totally freaked out, jumped around her cage till she fell flat on her back and broke her spine! I've never seen anything like it before and am so devastated by such a freak thing! Her whole bottom half was paralized and then I walked out there this morning and she was dead. I guess she wasn't able to reach her water bottle...though I had done my best to get it just right. So I'm out $50, have a buck and no doe, and I'm sad to have lost such a beautiful sweetie pie! :( <br /><br /> __________ Wed Jan 29, 2014 1:37 pm __________ <br /><br />

Oh no! :eek: I am so sorry about your doe!

I am very sorry you lost her that way. It must have been awful to see her do that. :(

My rabbits are used to the barncats scaling their cages on a daily basis. Maybe you should show the cat to your other rabbits and even put him on top of their cages. Once they get used to him hopefully none will startle like that.

I'm in Colorado and looking for Champagne D'Argent Rabbits for sale. Does anyone know of anyone close that sells them? We currently raise Angoras and Lion Heads for 4H, but I'm interested in these guys. We can travel to get them, that's not a problem, just wondering if there are any close.

We just happened to have a stray Champagne show up at our house and that's what got me interested in rabbits for meat. (My town won't allow chickens, goats, or pigs but rabbits and HORSES are o.k... Go figure!) My son loves lops so I think we'll start in spring with a black French lop as our bucks "girlfriend";) I think he's the most beautiful rabbit I've ever seen! Love the silvered breeds:)
