If Jack is an Opal his phenotype would be A_B_C_ddE_ ??

Does anyone know the color or phenotype for Jill ?

Thanks. :D

New at all this too.

If she's a Black Tort, phenotype would be

aa B_ C_ D_ ee

If she's a Cinnamin

A_ bb C_ D_ E_

Here's a chart that I found very helpful

Thanks Karen. :D

Now how do I know if she's a black tort or cinnamon ? LOL

Sorry for all the crazy questions.

You have to ask questions to learn, don't you?

Black Tort is a color, but Cinnamon is a breed.

Depends on her weight. If she's gets close to Rex size, I would lean towards Cinnamon.

it's not so bad, you just need a list of genetic colors for your breed and a punnet square. Here is a site with a list of all of the recognized and some not recognized colors for standard rex.

then the nature trail has a same of breeding "punnet squares". Kind of like the lattice multiplication method. you'll get it in no time. Just some simple rules to remember about order of dominance.

yep, how old is she now? approximate estimates would do, or how much does she weigh?

I have no idea how old Jill is - I would think a baby but I dunno. I weighed them this morning with my fishing scale. It's hard to read anything below 5 pounds.

Jill is 1 pound 6 ounces.

Jack is 2 pounds 9 ounces. Jack I know is an adult. He has gonads. One of the people at the auction said he was an older rabbit and under weight by his looks.

I don't have a kitchen scale and I don't know how reliable the fishing scale is for a rabbit - I usually don't put fish that small on the scale.

I'll get a picture of Jack, Jill and John together today. John is BIG compared to Jill and Jack - Jane is even bigger than John. John weighs 5 pounds 2 ounces - he was born March 8th 2012. I'm not even going to attempt to weigh Jane, she is still being mean to me now since John fell off her Aug 4th - hopefully it's because she is prego.

Jill and Jack are little wootzes and will no doubt gain weight. John and Jane were the same way when I first got them - then they slowed down after the first week or so.

Do these fishing scale weights sound right ?

Never used a fishing scale, I have a postal scale.

Mini Rex bucks are usually between 3-4lbs. But he's not that far off. With Jill being the size she looks in the picture, nearly the size of Jack, I'd guess she was a mini rex cross and not a cinnamon. Guess we'll find out as time goes on, and see if she gets any bigger. You'll have to go by vaginal color to see when she's ready.

This morning when I took Jack, Jill and John outta their hutches to put in the run around cages .. I took some pictures. Only one picture came out 1/2 decent with them on the move the whole time. :?

I also took a video of them hoppin around the table. Just wanted to share. :D
