Progress to the BunnyBarn is progressing at about the pace of stalactite formation, but some headway is being made! I want to block access to the area underneath the cages so the chickens can't scratch the bedding out and the cats can't use it as an occasional litterbox. Hubs finally cut some plastic panels for me which we riveted together to block access from the aisles (they lift out easily for cleaning), but we still need to make end panels. I want to build a wood frame and tack on hardware cloth so there will still be adequate ventilation and I can remove it by unscrewing a few screws if necessary, but that part is not yet done. Now if I can just get Hubs to build gates on the aisles, I can use them as exercise runs for the bunnies!

We sometimes get rain or snow storms with heavy winds, so to prevent the bunnies from getting drenched, I bought tubular plastic roll up blinds, and finally got Hubs co-operation in installing them. If winter ever decides to visit, I am ready!

I love it.
You gotta tell me able riveting the panels, I had to pull all of my tuftex panels off the kennels because they kept blowing off, I live so close to lake Erie.
I've been eying your picts, trying to figure out how to build a stable two story rack, I'm going to need more space soon in the barn.

We just used a hand-held manual riveter.

Are tuftex panels corrugated like the ones I am using? If so, they sell lengths of wood with the matching corrugated pattern- if you could affix those to the kennels it would provide more support. You would probably still have to sandwich the panels between another piece of lumber so the wind can't just tear it off.

remember to leave enough room that the cats can get in and get any mice that go in there (unless you'll leave bait down for mice). Just thinking like a mouse... how easy it would be a make a nest in there. :)

I know- I am thinking of securing them with cord from the upper and lower corners, making an "X". I can't just tie them down from the plastic rail on the bottom because it would simply tear off.

That's awesome! Definitely a great solution for keeping things out from under your cages.

I think I can show you how to do that-- I have watched a good Amish builder, learned a lot of secrets!!!
