I've got a couple of young does that I'm ready to breed after the summer break. The problem is there is a good possibility my buck is heat sterile. I put one of the does in yesterday and he got 3 good fall offs. I put her in with him again this morning and all she did was "chatter" at him and wouldn't lift. Does that mean there is a good chance she is bred? Should I wait a few days and try again? I've yet to get the hang of palpation although I will probably try in 12 days. I'd really hate to miss a breeding with these does.

I am dealing with this same issue. I put them together a few days ago and just got one good fall off. I live in south TX so its still pretty hot, and they got tired fast and were done after the one time. Now she's doing the same thing when I put them together. Just hunkering down, looking pissed off, and not moving. She's not super aggressive, but she's not into it. You will never know for certain, until about 35 days have gone by. But my theory is to just keep trying. If he is sterile, the mating alone may have made her feel like the job is done and cause a false pregnancy, where she thinks and starts to act pregnant. Those typically last 18 days or so. Also if he is sterile, getting the blanks out should return fertility faster. So we are planning to let them "play" at lot the next couple of months, and see what happens. Good luck and keep us posted!

I put her sister in this morning as well and did get several fall offs from her. So I guess we'll see how it goes. I think I'll try again in 4 days and if none of them rebreed I'll assume they are bred.

On a side note August 12th marked a full year for me to have rabbits. :D

South Texas...you're even hotter than I am. We just finished (hopefully) with a several weeks worth of "extreme heat warnings". Not all that uncommon for us as we are in far Southeast Oklahoma we always get the best that the heat and humidity have to offer. What has been strange is the lack of rain. For May we almost got drowned...it rained almost everyday. Then it was like someone turned off the tap. No rain at all since the middle of June. We are dry dry dry.

We are near Corpus Christi, and we had the same situation. Flooding and a very active spring, and once June hit hardly any rain. I hope you were
successful and have a nest full of kits soon! And congrats on your 1 yr anniversary:)
