We have a black tort doe and a chestnut buck. We are hoping to find the best combination, within our rabbitry or nearby rabbitrys, to make the desired orange Netherland that we want.

I am learning about genetics but it's still a bit like university calculus to me: mind numbingly difficult.

Thoughts?

Thank you

You could get orange/fawn if the chestnut carries non extension

Any fawn, frosty, tort or sable point in the chestnuts pedigree?

If not then keep a chestnut buck and breed him to the black tort - should get 50% fawns

(assuming there are not any other hidden recessives)

Dam's side: blue, black, chocolate, Siamese sable, smoke pearl, orange

Sire's side: BEW, blue, black otter

What do you think of my chances for orange?

Any suggestions on what color to breed to what color to get orange?

As I said, I'm just learning the genetics and extensions as variables are difficult to understand.
