Akane your hippo is still REALLY cute.

Here's Mucky's kits. The torts actually look like torts this time!
One solid tort, two brokens, and I think a broken orange. I'll get a closer pic of it's ears...I'm all paranoid about orange-looking chocolate torts now, but...
Since the buck in an orange with no chocolate on his pedigree, real orange is likely.

And Feather's little pastel rainbow of mix breed rabbits:

They are adorable Zass! Our kits are 12 days old today and opened their eyes! I'll have to post a picture. :D

__________ Thu Dec 04, 2014 2:36 pm __________

12 days old today and oh so cute with their eyes open!
They also enjoyed munching some hay.

I love the soft colors of that little guy in front on the right WWR! I don't think I've seen that combination before.

Heh, Mucky's made some fatties this time around too. None are skinny, but these two really stand out.

I don't intend to breed her again for a while after this...but I have to say, having her in here and accustomed to handling has been a really big help when to comes to making sure every single kit on the property is getting a full belly.

She's such a nice little milk tank. :D

Cute little chunks!

I never realized their tails where curved upwards like that... haven't spent much time up close and personal with a rabbit. I thought it was just a little puff ball that didn't really have that much structure to it. Do they have much control over their tail? Is it something they can put up or down or wiggle to express themselves? I feel like an idiot because I've watched and read a ton of animal stuff and been around many animals in my lifetime but apparently know next to nothing about a pretty popular one. lol

They have some tail control, and they do use them to communicate a bit.
When they wag their tails back and forth rapidly, sometimes they are saying something rude in rabbit, or just being sassy. :D

My little velveteen buck wags super fast when he's mounting. Dunno what he he's saying, but it gets across the feeling of...extreme excitement.

That's a lot of pretty babies ohiogoatgirl! Is that an opal In the first pic?

That first pic was from my GTS 3/4 nz 1/4 fg doe x florida white buck. Ended up with some blue gts, gts, one opal,... i dont remember all lol.

__________ Thu Dec 04, 2014 9:29 pm __________

Because... bunny in a bowl... hahahaha :)

I don't have any Itty Bitty buns to show but I got these 3 week fellas, I hope that's adorable enough - Mom is a NZR and Dad is a NZW. I guess Pop has a broken gene :) Also that nest box was really way to small for such a big mom but when I went to switch it out for a larger one she had done had her babies in it and made it work!

I love this one's inked ears

And a pic of some 5 week-ers. The Mom is a NZR and sister to the other doe - I used the same buck. I love those two steel babies.

Oh my gosh Zass, the color of that velveteen is so beautiful!! I want! :p

I think it's an ordinary broken black tort.

That smutty orange buck threw nice dark torts. The broken pattern is weaker, but that's OK, since I'm moving towards solids.

AND, assuming these kits remain normal rex coated, the curly kit genetics that my rabbits have ARE a simple recessive, and my new herd sire is not a carrier!

That will make it relatively easy to breed out. (I hope)
I'm going to see if I can practice what I preach, and line breed in order to identify and remove curl carriers from my v-lop lines.

Mucky is our house pet. Now that she's produced a few does in this litter for me to work with, she'll go into semi retirement. The doelings will carry one copy of curl from Mucky, but bred back to the buck their kits will only have a 50% to carry the gene at all.

Between Zass with the sleeping bun and Wheels with the little eyeliner and dark ear bun...... I've gotta go look at some orcs or something. This is all way too cute.
