I think getting Angoras and spinning your own wool is awesome. It is something I very much want to do in the near future.

its great fun :) its the greatest feeling of accomplishment knowing you raised the animal that produced the fiber and turned it into a product!

my fiance lives in virginia. pretty there.

Usually the first week of April. The buck is an english/french cross. I thought he looked more english, at least the wool did, but after shearign him, he is way bigger than an english, has no feet furnishings, but does have tuffs on his ears.

Now I just have to figure out what to do with the stuff I make.

Christmas/Chanukah gifts anyone?

ebay. etsy. your own website....
angora is HOTT right now that i know of. prices are high for the fiber. look it up angora fiber versus other wool prices. :x hence me wanting one for my own haha.

I am not really into selling stuff. I don't have the persistence it takes, one of the reasons why I my rabbits don't sell.

mwaahahahahaha ... the invasion of the fiber bunnies has begun at Sky's :mbounce:

One thing I have found with the EAs I have is they have PERSONALITY to spare :p

As for grooming, when the fiber is short, it is not a problem, but when it starts getting to the 1.5"-2" length, a weekly blowout is plenty to keep most EAs mat free, then add in another day as the fiber gets longer, etc.

Also, there's nothing like growing and spinning your own fiber :D I can't wait until this spring/summer to start dying the spun fiber I have ... then I will have to decide what to make from the 100% angora fiber, and find a source for good sheeps wool for blending with it too. I have found a source for alpaca fleece nearby.

Great looking Angoras, Sky! I'd been wondering where you'd been too. Good to have you back!
