Can someone give me a hand on this one? This doe is a result of an unplanned mating between two littermates (gold tipped steel mother and black father) and now I can't decide which color is she. Her tail is a shade of lilac(?) and her ears seem to be ticked with silver...

And what colored buck should I breed her to to get some interesting colors (aiming for chinchilla or black otter)?

She is an agouti himilayan

It is genetically impossible to have a chinchilla himilayan as the chin gene and himi gene are on the same colour locus (the C- locus)

Himilayan is a very recessive colour so breeding her to any other colour should produce something different

If you have a buck who has already produced chinchillas there is a chance he secretly carries that colour and when bred to her you should get some chinchillas

:yeahthat: (we were posting at the same time)

She looks like an Agouti Himalayan, however, since her mother is gold tipped steel, it is possible she is a highly marked Steel Himi (I doubt it but it's possible). Since himi is recessive to chinchilla breeding her to a chinchilla should result in some chinchilla kits. Since she carries a recessive allele (a) from her black father she should have otter kits if bred to a black otter. Since she carries neither of the colors you would like those will have to come from the buck. There could be other things in the mix however, such as REW or other recessives.
