Laid 2 x 6 on edge tied together about every 4 feet with a 2X4. planks across the top tied together with another 2X4 on the outside of the 2X6 in about 3 foot section. this lets me raise the deck to get under. Switching from crock to water bottle help please

I use small dog waters. They hold a volume of water have the advantage of a crock easy to drink from, also in the Oklahoma heat give the bun a place to cool there ears. Put ice in the jug keep water cool for a little while.

How to beat the heat ???!

Have mine in an open dirt floor run where they can tunnel, and misters in the run. Work good 100+ days haven't lost anyone. It is kinda strange walking out into the run and not seeing any rabbit around :o , all underground.

    Joint rabbitry?

Play it safe keep your rabbitry name to your self. There is nothing worse than developing a good rep just to have it distroyed by a "good frised ". You can keep your's and her's in the same place but not under the same name.

Wanting to start with a few meat rabbits

Welcome. Can't help with breeds, but NZW are a good meat rabbit and if you get tired of white they do have other colors in NZ's. As far as cages the cheaps way I've found is buy the wire in 50 to 200 foot rolls and get some J clips and build them. There not hard to build and you can make them...

    New Colony

Sounds good. The only problem with chicken wire is the opening in the wire may allow your young kits get out and not a very strong defence against predators. May want too use 1/2" X 1" on the bottom and 1" x 1" or 1" X 2" on up. I have tin around my colney and sunk down about 2-3 feet in the...
