    When can I breed again?

I remove my babies about 4-6 weeks. I make sure they are all eating pellet and drinking and I dont see them trying to grab a nursing all the time. I start with maybe half the litter (biggest ones first) then pull the rest few days later.

    WSDA Food Processors License

You would first need to call your local zoning office. Not to get you side tracked, but you need to find out if processing/butchering is even allowed in your zoning. If so, you may have to get a special variance with the city, which requires much work with fees and requirements. Around my neck...

    Newbie... introduction to tanning?

Read into the Alum tanning. Aluminum sulfate is considered a chemical, but it is used in many ways. I went and just started my first batch of skins few days ago. I got the Alum at Ace Hardware local for $9 for 4 lbs. As long as you use a stirring stick and wear gloves when handling the skins...

    How much to sell?

Sounds good. What you do is do the rabbits (just like do the dew, hehe) THEN, get into the live sales slowly, if you have a freezer full or if needing to recoup some costs, etc. Remember opportunities will always coming knocking and normally when you are ready. Do not jump in the deep end if...

    How much to sell?

Look for a farm supply, I have local Tractor Supply that I buy pellets from store brand for $15/50lbs It is low protein 15% but also use timothy/orchard grass. Also I add in BOSS and rolled oats (little bit) FOr my does, I just started using 18% protein since I am pushing them a lil hard with...

    How much to sell?

Hello Kelly, Many factors go into pricing, but mainly due to your costs in raising the rabbits. Find out your feed costs and then check local pricing of live meat rabbits. 4-6 months sounds like no profit is to be made, and not sure on that size unless for pet/show or breeding stock. For a...

    Thoughts? Newbie ideas

Since you brought it up (hehe) I would also look into SF breeders. I have quite a collection of them, and they are looking awesome right now with their winter coat. Also no complaints on their behavior, as they are on the top of my list for kissing butt, lol so nice! SF has silvering that...

    butcher day - one pic

Looks good! I did my first on news year day and then the other 6 this past sunday. They were 12/13 weeks and were not gaining. My first litter(s) If you have any place to hang them when skinning/gutting, it makes it go fast. A simple nail to hang cord from, make two slipknots for the feet...

    Not so good kindle

Ohh my! I put in the 5 day olds...within 20-30 seconds she was in!!! She nursed for about 20-30 minutes until I thought it was time. I put in some food and calf manna and she jumped out. I pulled the nest box and checked on the kits. They were all wet and clean and barely moving, no popping. I...

Why did she rip their LEGS OFF???

Yes, if the suckers did it, I would catch that and stop that nonsense. Really hope you can build your dream area, so it can deter the dirty rascals. added: awe, blue kits...well if it happened, maybe it will happen again. Breed to same buck!

    Not so good kindle

MSD, hmmm...I never thought of that. I think I will give that a try, but I am kinda afraid. I checked them and they seem to be getting fed (both litters) and the new kits now have some energy. If they werent fed, I dont think they would be as energetic as they are. I can put the older kits in...

SO my "Queen mama" NZW doe had kits. I was expecting it and was going home early to catch it for the whole week. Yesterday I went home to find kits all over the place. None of them were moving and I gathered them up quickly in my shirt. (its cold here!) They are in my bunny transformed...

Why did she rip their LEGS OFF???

First time and inexperienced has a lot to do with it. I had a similar kindle yesterday. Sorry to hear about the horror, but yes you should rebreed her and try again.
