What Breed(s) Do You breed *pics*

I breed English lops for show. Mostly tortes and creams, but working on a tricolor line.

"THE" doe - Who set the bar in your rabbitry?

No doubt that THE doe that began my rabbitry was PCR Whip Cream & Brandy, called Brandy, or oftentimes just Mama for short. I purchased her sight unseen from Pease & Carrots Rabbitry in Oregon in 2012. Never before purchased a rabbit from online, from someone I didn't know, having to arrange...

Why did you choose the name you did, for your rabbitry?

Boring name picking here. April & Kevin Foster thus became AKF Rabbitry. Hubby Kevin is no longer interested, and insists the AKF now stands for April, Kari (my sister who goes with me to all of my rabbit shows) and friends.

What turns you off from a potential buyer?

I have given up selling rabbits for pets for all of the reasons stated above. If you don't want a breed or show rabbit, then I don't have one to sell you.

    Pedigree question

Pedigrees are only as good as the person keeping them. Show breeders often require fully completed pedigrees, and even prefer registered rabbits on them, since those animals have been submitted to ARBA. For a meat breeder, records of sire / dam and their weights should be sufficient, I would...

Best vehicle to take rabbits to show?

I just stuffed 14 regular sized carriers (42 rabbits) and all of our stuff for a 5 day show in a 99 Ford Explorer. There wasn't a ton of room left over, and I did quite a bit of practicing prior to the show to see how it all fit best, but it was all in there. No worries about cold, noise, wind...

    Chocolate Tort?

If I were marking a color for that animal on my pedigree, it would simply be torte...a very light black torte if you must...definitely not a blue torte...but I don't see any chocolate either...

    It's finally sinking in....

Thank you all for your warm congratulations. Even tho I've been raising rabbits for some 3 decades, I still find useful information on this site. I haven't been posting much lately because of this show's preparations, but I still lurk and try to keep up and consider you my rabbit friends as much...

    It's finally sinking in....

AKF Annie's Love won BOB English lop open against 337 others in this years national convention as a jr bkn doe. She was BOV bkn as well. AKF Abbotsford won 1st out of his class of 31 solid jr bucks. That means that of the 8 rabbits left on the table for BOV and BOB judging, 2 of them came from...

    coccidiosis

Michaels4Gardens - how much of the green onion / garlic top do you feed each one? And how often? My rabbits are generally around 10 lbs as adults.

__________ Sun Sep 28, 2014 12:05 am __________

:D I just thought of this....the judge at the show is going to flip my...

    Orange or fawn?

Dood, your PS is making me have to ask - why can't I get a fawn out of the Mama's side? The Mama's are sisters. I call one fawn because she isn't very bright orange and she has brown eyes, and the other Mama a cream, because she is even less orange and has what appears to be blue grey eyes. They...

    Orange or fawn?

Well, if the parents could throw either, then I think I am going to go with orange. To me they are very brightly colored orange and have dark brown eyes. I just didn't want to go writing something down on the pedigree that was impossible to get with the parentage they had. Here's another...

    Bunnies need a ride!

Is anyone going to be near Wisconsin and headed towards Oklahoma in the near future? Or even to Arkansas, Kansas, TX....somewhere within a reasonable distance? I am needing 2 or possibly 3 plush lops (Holland lop sized) brought this direction.

    Orange or fawn?

I'm having trouble on my Elop bunnies determining if they are fawn or orange. The SOP isn't very helpful. One is bright orange and one is a brilliant golden. Both have brown eyes and white undercoats. To me the difference between bright orange and brilliant golden could be left up to the eye of...

    In need of prayers

I haven't been on in awhile. Life has been, well, hectic as you might believe. I did want to post an update here tho, about Rachel. Rachel's asthma attack was on Saturday April 5. Today is Friday, July 25. Rachel has never regained consciousness. She still cannot breathe without the help of a...

    What is going on???

I agree she could be overweight. I hadn't thought about that. She has always been one of my biggest does. "Capacious" was the word used in her selling information. I am not ready to rebreed at this point. I have bunnies coming out of my ears right now because of breeding up for convention, and...

    What is going on???

I have a doe that has had 2 very huge, very late babies out of the last 3 litters. The first time she was 3 days late. I found 2 huge dead babies when I removed the nest box. The second time she kindled on time and raised 7 perfect babies. Yesterday she was 5 days late and had 2 huge babies. One...

    In need of prayers

I want to thank you all for your prayers, thoughts and kind words. The news hasn't changed. Dr's still say she is as good as she will ever get. The brain damage is irreversible and irreparable. From the brain down, she is fine as far as unconscious people ever are. Many of you have said you no...

    In need of prayers

The update is not good. The damage to her brain due to lack of oxygen has caused her brain to swell, causing even more damage. The Dr. has very bluntly said, in so many words, that this is an injury that she will not recover from. She is being kept alive on life support only now. She has never...

    In need of prayers

Saturday, my son's girlfriend had a bad asthma attack which actually killed her. Luckily, they were only a minute away from an ER, where they used the paddles to restart her heart. Since Saturday, she has been on a breathing tube/ventilator and has been kept under sedation. An MRI shows...
