The aquarium heater is set to 80 degrees, and is moving through the tubes at all times, so there is no freezing. And with the drinker valves so close to the moving, warm water, they should stay unfrozen also.

We do a full 30 days also. Although we're running out of QT space the way I keep acquiring new rabbits... Chewy and Hans are in the same cage for the QT period, as they are only 6 weeks old and small enough.

Might be a worthwhile investment to purchase a surgical stapler. They do come in handy, and you can save yourself an emergency vet trip... I can get you a few links to suppliers if you want.

I clamp the ear clean, then apply ink/paste wirh q-tip sparingly. Q-tip makes rubbing the ink into the holes easier.
