Food digging

One cage has a baking tray and it works mostly alright, they do walk through it and spill that way but not too badly. Its the other cage that is such a nightmare but the new bowl holder seems to have worked. What I badly need is more space but sadly, not much hope of that any time soon.

    Food digging

Using crocks right now, set into a wire holder. I had a look at what scraps I have available and found some 2 by 4 bits so am going to make something with those to raise the bowls higher and make a bit of a step they have to reach over. Might do the job? Bloody things wasting like this, only...

    Food digging

Any ideas on how to stop the blasted digging in the food bowls? On wire the food is being wasted at a staggering rate.

    New Look?

Oooooo it would be nice to get the smilies back, if possible. In a world of generic emojis, the ones here were so special.

    New Look?

Sounds like a sound decision MaggieJ and you are right, we will all get used to it.

    New Look?

Thank you for pointing me to avoid ads! Still no sign of the smilies but ah well, I guess the upgrade in usefulness and security is worth the loss of them.

    New Look?

Is it just me or is the forum totally different? With adds? And what happened to the best smilies on any forum anywhere?

    Baby bunnies balding?

One of my litters - about 4 weeks old - started with bald patches on a few heads but now has spread to one of them having most of the fur gone on its sides as well and more being bald. I suspect they are either sucking on each other or the mum is doing extra grooming but I am not sure, it's a...

    Over Felting

There are sooooooo many different sheep breeds here in the UK, it blows my mind sometimes. Got some Black Mountain Welsh fleeces not long ago for pennies really but my heart lusts after the proper equipment to properly play with them. For now though I am enjoying felting so maybe one day for...

Castor crossing to Chinchilla = ?

When we get an angora trio I will grit my teeth and pay the price for good ones. Right now we are saving for a puppy so it will be a looooooong time before angoras. I love hearing about yours Hotcatz, I get to learn from someone other than my mistakes. My fluffy butts are mainly on...

Can I use just wood shavings in a nest box?

Kiln-dried small animal bedding so it has proven safe enough. It's working nicely too, in total we now have 20 new bunnies! :D

Can I use just wood shavings in a nest box?

A good thought. They do get grass hay but not as much as I like to give and almost nothing lately due to its being musty when I buy it. :x

-- Sat Apr 24, 2021 12:01 pm --

A lovely nest full of fine fat kits, the first-time doe is doing a grand job! :D

Can I use just wood shavings in a nest box?

The nest boxes are made of inch ply and I put in three inches but the weird rabbits have eaten quite a bit of them. Will add more tomorrow to make up for it. The nights are finally starting to warm up to above freezing so that is also a wonderful plus. Thank you so much, I was fretting more...

Can I use just wood shavings in a nest box?

I did think so but having only ever used hay I wasn't sure how well they work. Good to know it should work fine. Next step, two first time does due this week, keep your fingers crossed!

Can I use just wood shavings in a nest box?

Having a hard time finding good hay but have a ton of medium/fine wood shavings, kiln-dried. Can I use just those in the nest box and if so, how deep?

My crazy sheep idea- All the animal crazy, all the time!

Pigs are smart, not as smart as people let on but certainly smart enough to only touch a wire twice. They can't see very well so give them a visual, either plastic bags tied onto the wire, or colored flags or something of the like. The easier it is to see, the faster they will learn. Pigs are...
