Bragging about my latest rabbit tractor

Have you considered giving him a bin full of dirt? If he digs his burrow in it you'd be able to move it with the cage...

Bragging about my latest rabbit tractor

Floor is 2x4 fencing on the outside and 1/2 inch hardware mesh on the inside. I definitely need flooring, because the ground is uneven... the reason for bragging about no escapees is because previous tractors had flooring that they still escaped through (and we now have puppies who are...

Bragging about my latest rabbit tractor

It is now day 4, and no escapees! That's a record for any of our unattended outdoor enclosures Plus, the buns have easy access to the grass and basically mow a section of lawn each day!

1st time mom, low milk production

I had a doe like that, and the internet said to give nettle to her. It was really effective.

rabbit dying because of mold in the food

Definitely not for the rabbits. If you're really into saving the feed, and you have a farm animal you feed scraps with a reputation for a cast-iron stomach, you could try a little on it and see if it's worth adding in small amounts to bulk up it's regular feed. Watch it closely though for any...

    Grass-fed Rabbits for Human Health?

Sort of tying in the runaway topic with the grass feeding: Having tried wooden slats for one of our rabbit tractors, I'd like to share a pic of what didn't work. Apologies, as the only good photo that shows the slat spacing was taken for insurance claim after a predator attack. The slat...

    Any herbal equivalent to advil?

Our favorite buck appears to have hurt his wrist. Not badly, but enough that he is in a cranky mood, and is bitey when we handle him. Does anyone have home remedies to ease a bun's minor aches and pains?

    Seizure, now eye issue

Ivermectin overdose can cause temporary paralysis, give him a few days to see if he recovers from it. For the fur on his poops, that's a common ailment in angoras, easy treatment: lots of fiber, and pineapple if you have it. If they're not eating but are drinking, replace water with pineapple...

    Kits! Is this normal?

The trouble with rebreeding after a week, and before 2 weeks, is the possibility that you will have 2 sets of offspring: the doe has 2 horns in her uterus, and a week after successful breeding she may be fertile in the second horn. If they're from a line that has been breeding that way for...

    New member

@Rabbits by Accident With your setup, have you found you're able to reuse the hay that falls through? I did something similar with netting, worked great to begin with, but it started to stretch and sag, and my buns seemed to think that the spot where it all gathered was the best place to pee.

Watch Out for Random Hay in Nestbox

Reminds me of when I tried to use plucked angora fur to help insulate a nest with not much fur. Found one little guy the next day had spun his own noose to play with (luckily he recovered) -- i guess we gotta be careful of all sorts of dangers for nesting boxes

is it ok that my rabbit cools off by sitting in her water bowl?

Your bunny is smart to do it during a heat wave; keep an eye on her come fall, though, I have some that decided that water bowls are pools no matter the temperature. Frozen feet didn't even make them stop. If she does keep toe dipping after the frost, I've had success using gravity fed chicken...

    Advice on colour please.

She's got so much personality you can see it through her pics. What a CUTIE 💓 definitely red though

    Turning green

Or give her a more comfortable pillow... a scrap of folded blanket (my rabbits love wool and fleece) or a doll sized actual pillow (depending on how destructive she plays)

I thought I put two does together, and they fought. Maybe they weren't two does? Maybe it was a buck and a doe?

It is definitely a case of personality. And compatibility. I have a black angora that began fighting with his brother. Took the brother away, and eventually put meat rabbit brothers in as neighbors (i have a long cage, with dividers to separate). He climbed over the divider during feeding...

Have you tried washing it off (assuming no open wound)? Pic really would be helpful

First time butchering yesterday. What to do with heads, ears, feet, tails, etc?

Hmm, I would like to know more about the composting idea... I was taught how to compost in school, it was a big no-no to compost tinfoil, plastic, or meat. If there are scavengers in the area (including our own untrained puppies) how would i keep them from eating it out of the compost?

Can I move my doe and her kits? Double pregnancy

Rabbit does have 2 uteruses... uteri? Uterus(plural). If successfully bred, don't breed again any later than 1 week, or earlier than 2 weeks. Double pregnancy is possible but definitely not desirable; second litter is born at the same time as the first, and usually dies because they are...

    Info on “harlequinized”

is this possibly a harlequinized coloring (or is it just harlequin)? The orange fur shafts have golden tips, and the grey shading is actually black tipped with the rest of the shaft completely white

    Kits are vanishing.

I have the same type of cages! Whether or not your predators are grabbing within the cage, if they can walk they will walk out. The first litters I ever bred, about a week after kindle, I saw a body part in a kitten's mouth and rushed to the cage door which was closed tight. "HOW?!?" I...
