    Rex Breed Sore Hocks Prevalence

Do a thread search on here, I know the subject has been covered pretty deeply here on RT.

If you have any willows those are good also!

    Do you use compressed hay?

I find there is a lot of crumbly bits of shredded hay with the compressed bales, which makes them to be 'powdery' when pulling apart. But the compression is fantastic for storage. I think that regardless of farmer's bales or compressed bales from the feed store, either way you're going to have...

Bass "floor spreader" vs. Klubertanz "u-beam support"?

I used the Bass floor spreaders and zip tied them on also. I recommend, although I haven't used the Kluber before. I used them on my 24x42 growouts.

    Hi everyone!

Rex are great rabbits!! Just be sure to keep track of their feet for sore hocks!! I had a NZR have sore hocks and it's a pain to get one rabbit through that, much less a bunch of them!

It's lovely to hear from you once more!! It's been a long while since I've been on here too and I got out of rabbits Feb 2019, time issues also. Glad you've got your rabbitosis still raging (mine is ramping up) and I'm sorry about your frozen pops. May your new year be full of warm babies!!!

It's been a long while, but I still love RT

Good evening everyone! It's been some time since I posted on RT (pre-covid, I think) and I wanted to give an update. Right as covid was firing up in 2019 I went to what turned out to be the last D8 show in northern Ohio in February for over a year. As the plans to move my elderly father and...

    Checking In and Saying Hello

Hey Y'all! It's been awhile since I've been on and posted, but I am always aware that y'all are my teachers! I try to send as many new rabbit owners here to RT and tell the regular rabbit folks that if they have questions to come post on RT also. It's like the 'Ask the Audience' cheat on 'Who...

Will hay compost along with rabbit poop?

I compost my rabbit poo and hay and straw scatterings at the local community garden. That stuff breaks down so fast and the food and flowers coming from the compost is amazing! I have chutes under my rabbit cages so I'll scrape a bucket full of berries and then go flinging it on my front yard...

When to provide pellets, water, and remove nest box?

Not that you may have any future litters, but what I'll do is since my nest boxes are home made, I'll unscrew the front panel of the box off so the kits can come and go, Mom can still hop on top, and yet everyone has a place to huddle at the end of the day.

    Back, but bunnyless.

I'm so glad to finally get the whole story of the last six months or so!! One can only learn so much from FB and with a new baby and youngsters and puppies, life is CRAZY!!! I"m awfully glad things are going well and I think every family should have a dog! I had to put ours to sleep in...

New Broken Red New Zealand Buck

My broken red doe had five very large dead kits a few weeks back and I think the size of those kits is what got themselves stuck during delivery, and died. It was Mossy's first litter, but with the size of those kits, I'm not really holding it against her. I fed her well for a week and re-bred...

    Random Death of Rabbits??? Help!

I have not but I sympathize. The rabbits should have been able to handle the cold snap. All three of the greys were related, yes? Perhaps there was a recessive that they all inherited that "went off" simulatenously? Were they smaller than the rest of their sibling/cousins and were failure to...

    can color indicate problem?

The could just be really dark agoutis. i’ve seen poorly fed rabbits that were still black despite their feed (just the hair shaft was in terrible shape) so perhaps some genes are coming into play.

    In-Home Flea Circuses

Ugh!!!!! On a sad note, we put our elderly dog to sleep a little over two weeks ago. We miss him very much but it was a mercy for him. Earlier this summer I had surgery and a very large ovarian tumor removed (benign, all is well and good), so that had me out of commission since July. Needless...

    Meet Penny!

Peahens are just as lovely as the cocks. Where we stayed in Puerto Rico years ago had a resident blue peacock and all his peahens were white!!! Pretty neat. They loved eating my chex mix in the mornings, LOL!

    Weaning style survey

About two weeks before my does are due, I'll move them to the grow out cages (small operation here). They'll kindle in the grow outs and at about five to six weeks I'll move mom back to her cage, leaving the kids in the grow out. Depending on how many are in the litter, I'll separate the sexes...
