    English Angora babies

I have English Angora, and I'm in Arizona. I can work with a transporter, or I will be through the ABQ area in a couple weeks and could meet if you're willing to drive a little bit.

    Kits dying

I see that you're raising them in an x-pen? I would say this is a health issue then. They're on the ground with feces and are probably getting a fatal load of bacteria or parasites. E. Coli, Coccidia, etc. If you want to keep them on a solid floor I would recommend cleaning with bleach, daily...

    Hello from Flagstaff, AZ

Hi Jamielrh, I'm here in AZ also. I'm sorry you're having a tough time. Don't let this initial rough road hold you back. Have you tried talking to the breeder? Maybe she can give insight into the stillborn issue. It could be a diet, parasite, bacteria or even housing/nest box issue. It could...

    Breeding out a breed?

In the beginning, anything not Himalayan marked is a NZW (New Zealand White). Anything Himalayan marked is a CA (Californian). Since your CA are all either chc or chch, breeding any of them back to a REW (Ruby-eyed White) NZW will tell you if they are chc or chch. A litter with REW kits means...

    Even Judges Can Be Unscrupulous

I'm so sorry you have had this experience. A few things I noted, which may or may not actually pertain to your situation... -I rarely carry paper pedigrees, but since they are all online I can email them on the spot, at the time of purchase. -Weights on pedigrees can be off. My pedigree...

What does your pet rabbit cost you a year?

What's funny is that in the article the bunny they are showing "three days after we found her", is an American Cottontail, not a domestic rabbit at all.

    Angora under coat brush

Molting had been bred out of the English breed, but as far as I know it was before they ever came to the US. Betty Chu would probably know as she currently holds the world record for longest wool with one of her English Angora. English lines that molt was more likely bred back into them in more...

    Male pulling fur?

She'll kindle before too much longer would be my guess. Nest building can occur any time from a week before kindling to after kindling (depending on the doe and their hormones and mothering instincts).

My angora crew (and a jersey wooly)

If only that were true. Rabbits are determined to be pets or livestock depending on state, county or municipality code, ordinance or law. In a city they may be considered pets, ignored completely or be treated as livestock. In any case there will be an animal welfare department that can be...

Ive got 3 lil cutie pies the mama is harlequin magpie an i believe the father is either giant flemish or new zealand red. Can anyone tell yet

Rabbit breed is determined mostly by what their parentage / pedigree is, and also by what they look like (phenotype). ex. two New Zealands will give you more New Zealands. A mixed breed rabbit that looks like a New Zealand can be entered in an ARBA show as a New Zealand. What can be said about...

    Q & A

Didn't say you lied. I just said I find it hard to believe. Newborn is one thing that I've seen done, and tried with only limited success... and then 4 weeks and after, with 5 weeks being much more accurate, but 10 days? There's just nothing to even see. I look forward to what you post when you...

    Q & A

Yup, those are great for day old kits. By ten days they have changed quite a but and you don't have that same clear cut picture because they've furred out. Thats why I found 10 days to be a less possible time. If the OP had said newborn, I would agree, although I don't think 100% accuracy or...

    Q & A

10 days? I've got to say, I find that hard to believe. After 30 years I can *** at 3.5 weeks - 4 weeks, but I think the averge new breeder will even struggle at 6 weeks. I'd love to see pictures of sexing at 10 days with what to look for. Maybe there's something I'm missing.

    "Ticking" of coat in kit?

I would agree with Otter. It's not steel, that doesn't show until the rabbit is in a mature coat. Even at 4 weeks it is just becoming visible. You can see a slightly different shade in a blue and a blue steel at birth, but then it goes away and only comes back as they lose their baby coat and...

    Maiden doe not lifting

Oh you have Cali's? Well, my experience with Californians is that they are just too laid back and lovey to have immediate breedings. My last Cali buck would love and entertain the doe for days before he could convince her to lift. So, I had to make the risky decision to leave them together in...

    Maiden doe not lifting

In a neutral space, they will both go to look around and be curious. Breed in the buck's cage, that way her has no distractions.

Animal Wanted Black Mini Rex Buck

I'm a ways away in SE Arizona but I have a Mini Rex buck available. He's broken black, from good lines and proven. He is not showable because he's missing part of one ear, which is a shame because he is pretty. I have a couple junior black bucks out of him, but they're still in the next box.
