    2nd meal using rabbit...

Sorry for the late response, my only computer access is at work and I had a long weekend. To steam any meat I just use a basket steamer like you would for vegetables. My cooking set has a steamer insert that stacks on a sauce pot, but I have used a bamboo steamer set too. Just stack your...

    2nd meal using rabbit...

Has anyone ever tried steaming rabbit? I've done it with chicken and porkchops. The water left over in the bottom makes a fabulous stock and the meat essentially cannot be burnt. I just wait for the stock to cool and freeze it in ziplock bags. Do you think steaming would help prevent dryness...

All theory and no practise...yet. Any (and all) advice?

Shower curtains! Brilliant! I'll do that. And yes, the pellets have no added accelerants. Now I just have to figure out how to build a floor with a drop tray that is cleanable around the edges. Do I need to support the floor across the middle or just let it sag? Anyway, I'll do some scheming...

All theory and no practise...yet. Any (and all) advice?

I am loving all this info that I'm getting. Thanks to everyone. Sorry that I've been absent all weekend but my only computer access is at work during breaks. To clarify my situation, I'll only be feeding myself, two small dogs, a cat, and the occasional guest depending on their bravery...

All theory and no practise...yet. Any (and all) advice?

I was wondering about the floors myself. I was going to go solid to protect baby feet from wire and find something washable/disposable for the kits and hopefully litter train the adults. I also realize that plain wood is a baaaad idea. What do you think of lining solid areas with either vinyl...

All theory and no practise...yet. Any (and all) advice?

Thanks for all the replies. I was going to make my cages solid on all sides but for the front, no mating between the bars or spraying each other and walls beyond. The front, including doors would be 24" x 36" dog exercise pen panels so I could reach half the cage without the bun(s) bailing out...

All theory and no practise...yet. Any (and all) advice?

I thought that standard was dominant to mini, or is that just the dwarfing gene? Are minis dwarves or just bred for size? I was considering butchering males at 10 weeks in case they could breed/fight at 3 months. That way they could all stay with Mom until its time for freezer camp. My hutches...

All theory and no practise...yet. Any (and all) advice?

Okay, here's the situation. I'm cringing already at what I'm about to say knowing full well that all of you will just shake your head, but here goes: I will be moving in a year or less to a mobile park and would love to try a single pair of meat rabbits. I was thinking of a mini rex buck (for...

Saw the coolest looking rabbits on Youtube.

Sorry to take so long to respond. My only computer access is at work and I've been sick. I didn't know that tri's & harli's were that close! Like I said, I've never done this so I've joined the forum to learn. Thanks for the info. I've been doing some studying but so far everything I know is...

Saw the coolest looking rabbits on Youtube.

You're right. I looked up "patchy Champagne d'Argent" and images provided the proof. I wish such markings were permanent, but alas. I'm hoping to get a pair of meat rabbits and was thinking of tricolor rex x harlequin rex. Should prevent me from accidently buying close relations and the...

Saw the coolest looking rabbits on Youtube.

What would you call a rabbit that has broken black patches over a chinchilla grey body? They almost look like blue ticks! I saw them on a Youtube vid called "Judging of the rabbit meat pen". It's only 53 seconds long. Does anyone what combination of parents would cause or lead to a broken on...

To euthanize or not...Anyone make the decision about a dog?

My heart goes out to you and what you are going through. We had to put down our 14yr old pom a couple years ago. He had cushings disease but we didn't know it until he woke up at 3:00am screaming with a seizure. 3 days later we finally found out that he suffered brain damage and his heart...
