When to stop breeding... (6/15 - Exciting Update!)

Well... Surprising update! Last night, almost 24 hours after delivering the three dead babies, Mimi gave birth to a healthy live kit! And, her milk came in immediately and she is taking GREAT care of the little one all day today! Unfortunately, she still has enough milk for all four babies and...

    She had 3, but...

I used this formula recipe from Miss M. formula-feeding-baby-bunnies-pics-vids-t3691.html It seemed to work well and the kit I was feeding it to seemed to enjoy it fine.

When to stop breeding... (6/15 - Exciting Update!)

Maybe so, but I won't give up on her without at least giving her a good chance at having a pet home.

When to stop breeding... (6/15 - Exciting Update!)

Her first litter was a stuck kit and half the babies on the wire; plus her milk never really came in. This is her second litter; all the babies had bruising and were born on the wire. These kits would have been sold as pets and some go to 4-H homes; but this litter doubtfully held anything...

    What Color?

Okay, thank you! I was just wondering if anyone else could tell, since I was not quite sure of the color!

She had the babies on the wire! Now what?

I would remove the nest, keep the babies warm, and bring the box back to her morning and evening for feedings. But, I am sure some of the more experienced members will weigh in soon with more tips! :) Good luck with the little ones (and mama)!

When to stop breeding... (6/15 - Exciting Update!)

Well, my Holland doe that had a difficult delivery back in April (it was her first ever breeding) just kindled. 3 kits. On the wire. Dead. :( When I checked on her this morning she was still fine and resting in her cage, but when I went to check on her again now, I found the three dead babies...

    What Color?

No, I don't have any info on the parents or any other related rabbits. I noticed him in an ad online and I was curious about his coloring. I am looking for chocolate, chocolate based, or chocolate carrying Hollands, and when I saw this buck I wondered if he might be lilac/lynx based color.

    What Color?

Does anyone know what color this rabbit would be?

    She's feeding her kits!

Yay! Congratulations to you and Eenie!!! It is such a relief when they finally start feeding the kits on their own! :)

Singleton kit and first-time doe problems! (Update 5/14)

Yes, I'm glad that I bred her back again as well; hopefully all goes well this time around! I palpated on the 28th (last month) and I would say she's positive, so the nest box goes in on Tuesday! Well, with the last pregnancy, she actually got more exercise than with this one so we'll see what...

    food portions?

    :yeahthat: I do the same.

Rabbit fighting when i put doe in the cage

Yes, that's right. I would check her daily until you see a nice dark vent and then let them try it again.

    What to do before breeding?

    :yeahthat:

Singleton kit and first-time doe problems! (Update 5/14)

*sigh* It is sad when those little ones have to die, but at least I know that there must have been something else wrong. Thank you for sharing your story; I feel a little better about things now, and now that the doe is rebred I will hope for more success this time.

Singleton kit and first-time doe problems! (Update 5/14)

He did grow a tiny bit since that picture, but he was still much smaller than any other 2 week old I have ever had. Coincidence; maybe not... I wonder if something was wrong internally then?

Singleton kit and first-time doe problems! (Update 5/14)

Thank you everyone; I hope this litter goes better for both of us (me and the doe). I'll keep you posted!

    The Lop Buck (pic heavy)

I would say that he is a Mini... Either that or very faulty Holland. If you could get him posed in the positions for both breeds I am sure it would be easy to decide. Good luck with him; he is quite adorable! :)

Singleton kit and first-time doe problems! (Update 5/14)

Okay, I've been really busy, but here's the update... Sadly, the little kit passed away on Sunday, and unfortunately I could not figure out why. He was 2.5 weeks old and had been on only formula for 2-3 days. Saturday night he seemed kind of uninterested in eating, but I assumed he just wasn't...

    Beveren litter- lilac and blue?

Wow, what beautiful babies! I am soo jealous! I have always wanted Beverens; especially the lilacs and chocolates. Too bad I have no cage room right now. :(
