But first timer, on the grass, can't feel more kits. Really hoping I can at least get her to feed them when I bring the nest!!

Send some luck their way, please?

Two chocolates and a blue[?] SF.

Thanks you guys!!

I'm not sure about the blue ??? kit. He/she has a chewed up elbow, but if mom feeds them, he should heal w/o much issue.
I also cannot tell his color, he isn't chocolate, he isn't lilac. Somewhere either black or blue, but he isn't as dark as I've seen my black SF kits be on day one....=/ Will know in a few days.

Hope everyone's buns are doing well, too!

She didn't have more, didn't make a nest or pull anymore fur and didn't want to feed them on her own this morning. But she does have milk, so I held her in the nest. She didn't freak out like some does do, hopefully she will get the hint in a few feedings. They filled their bellies some, not too much. I'll go back out with them later. The three are able to keep each other warm. =)

I don't think she ever will. She stomps, growls and freaks out. End up just taking both out and holding her on her back to feed them.

Mom seems to be running low on milk....took the two forever to get much milk today.
What should I use to substitute them? I have a sheep who should have milk. Then kitten replacer and eggs.
Ideas on what works best?

sheep fat- 7.0 protein- 5.98
goat fat- 4.14 protein- 3.56
rabbit fat- 12.9 protein- 12.3
KMR fat- 24 protein- 42

I don't know if this will work for you but im raising a litter of 3 by myself.

The mom injured them when they were few days old so i placed their nest in a carton box.
First i bought kittymilk and ordered rodentmilk from the petshop.
At home i watched bottlefeeding videos on youtube and tried that but without succes.
I was scared they were going to choke and it took me 15 minutes to get a few drops in their mouths. They would pull their head back like they were struggling to swallow the milk so i stopped immediately with the bottlefeeding.
I put the box with babies down, took the doe out of her hutch and held her on top of the babies.
She would resist a little at first but then calm down and let them drink.. and they actually nursed until their bellies were full and fell on their backs in sleep. I was so relieved and i repeated the same every evening and morning. Now they're 29 days old and very lively.
It took them forever to eat solid food though, they started at around day 27/28.
They also drink less milk, maybe a minute and then hop out of the box to run around.

I noticed when you hold the doe on your lap, they feel forced and don't let any milk go.
So that never worked for me.

To replenish their milk recource, we give them chicory in the netherlands.

I tried holding her normally in the nest, but she kicks violently with her back feet no matter how I hold her and she managed to cut up the two choco real good one day. That's why I had to switch to her laying on her back. She cut a big flap on one kit's hip, it was cleaned and was healing fine. Other kit got a poke to the neck, scratch on it's back and side. Not to mention all of my new cuts and blood stains. =/
Does that have let me sit them in the nest in the past have always ended up feeding the kits on their own, 1 first timer, others 2nd timers. I checked her yesterday night for milk and there was nearly nothing where the milk fills up under the skin, teats only expressed a dot of milk. She was loosing milk, not sure if it was caused be being flipped or if from the start she wasn't going to have that much. I feed them Mana Gro when they are about to kindle and then 2-3wks afterwards.

Mine kicks everytime i put her in the box but she never managed to touch or hurt them under my watch.
It's the way you hold her.
Basically put her down facing you, reach your left hand to her left hindleg and lift it up or push it back and hold her foot and hip so she can't move them. Use your right hand to grab her left foot and pull it up to her neck and then clam your fingers around her neck. This way her left side will be somewhat lifted from the ground and the kits will have easy access. She wont be able to move or kick, eventually she will calm down and stay still while feeling uncomfortable.

ps: her left side is "right" from our point of view. So if she is facing you, her foot and backfeet on the -> side should be lifted up like a car who rides on 2 sidewheels.

Will you try this and let me know how it went?
