    Pregnant Doe - Day 40 *update & question - 12/15*

Okay, and if I actually let him breed her should I plan on getting a live litter? Or will she just pass both the unknown lump and the semen? I was hoping that she would pass whatever it is so that I could breed her along with my other doe that didn't take next week.

To breed or not to breed?

Personally, I would wait and only breed her again when her present litter is 6-7 weeks old. I like to give my does at least a little down time and especially with a rough kindling, a couple extra weeks is a couple extra weeks for her body to internally recuperate.

    Pregnant Doe - Day 40 *update & question - 12/15*

Miss M, do you mean just putting her in with the buck and letting him attempt to breed her without actually "getting it done"? Or do mean to actually rebreed her? I'll try that later today... Thanks dayna, I paid a lot for this doe so this is a very frustrating and disappointing outcome. I was...

    Pregnant Doe - Day 40 *update & question - 12/15*

Well, I bought a beautiful, broken chocolate brood doe last month and had her bred by the breeder before taking her home... I watched the breeding and know that the buck got 3-4 successful covers before we removed the doe. Now, 40 days later, I don't know what to do... I gave the doe her nest...

    first time owner

If you are leaving for two nights anyway, the better option is to leave her at home and have someone come feed her each day. It will be less of a change for her and therefore less stressful. And as to the smaller pellets, I wouldn't worry about it. As long as her poop does not turn runny or...

    Split Penis Question

Okay, thank you Otterstain. Could you explain your second answer, though? I'm not sure that I understand... CochinBrahmaLover, I don't believe that split penises have anything to do with inbreeding, but most people do agree that it is a genetic trait passed on by carrier rabbits.

    Split Penis Question

Hey All, I know I haven't been around in a long time, my life is far too busy these days! :P But I do have a question for you all. I found out recently that one of the bucks born out of my father/daughter breeding (I have bred this cross now several times), which I thought was a doe, is a...

What is the difference?! (Genetically too, please!)

Okay, thank you very much! :)

    Maysie's Kits

Oh how cute! :) Congratulations! Is Maysie a new rabbit of yours?

What is the difference?! (Genetically too, please!)

Okay, that is quite interesting... I can see that I have much to add to my knowledge of genetics! :) What would the genotypes of those colors look like?

    Figuring some genetics...

Taking from our other conversation: Should I risk purchasing the chocolate buck that carries (but does not express) the harli gene? I breed only self and shaded colors, but desperately want the chocolate gene which is hard to come by around here. Unfortunately the only breeder around here who...

What is the difference?! (Genetically too, please!)

What will it mess up on the shadeds? Will it mess up any seal, tort, sable point colors, or just the agouti colors?
  15. Teddy2511

    Figuring some genetics...

Okay, call me confused :), but how can you get a black tort from a tort/chocolate cross in which only the doe carries the recessive "e"?

    Figuring some genetics...

Okay, and Dood this may be for you, what colors can I get if I cross a Chocolate buck carrying harli to a blue tort doe carrying shaded (and she is not a chocolate carrier)? How about the same buck to a seal doe who also does not carry chocolate, but does carry the recessive extension gene "e"...

What is the difference?! (Genetically too, please!)

Okay, thanks for clearing that up for me! And no problem Dood, I actually appreciate the extra information! :) I have been working almost exclusively with shaded bunnies, so I love every bit of color genetics information that I can get! __________ Thu Jun 20, 2013 8:37 pm __________...

    Conjoined kits?

Here is a link Kyle (just scroll down): member/Mountain%20Spice/ And yes, I would agree with single kit theory. Poor mama!

When to stop breeding... (6/15 - Exciting Update!)

Thank you! It was such a surprise, but quite a happy one, to find a live baby in the nest! :) I took the nest from her last night, and I let the baby rest and a attempt to digest all that milk... :P This morning I checked and its belly had deflated to the size of a regular full tummy; I'm...
