So far, so good! The magnificent seven (sorry, it's my first litter) are thriving! Here is a picture of some of them on Day Nine. Eyes are open and they're just adorable and I'm enjoying these bunnies far more than is good for me since they're destined for freezer camp. I shouldn't be getting so attached. Isn't there a law somewhere that says it's okay to save the first litter and sneak them all out to pet homes except for one of each color that I keep for myself?
I cleaned out the nest box and snuggled them back in on day 8. Today's actually day 10 and they're thankfully staying nice and cozy because it's supposed to snow here tonight.

I see four different colors there! :p The way I see it, you only have three to find pet homes for!

They are adorable little things, aren't they? :)

Hopefully by the time they are ready for freezer camp, you will have another litter of adorable babies to play with.

You could always keep the does from the litter to raise up as future breeders- that's what I did to grow my production herd, figuring I could then cull the ones that weren't good producers.

I know! I got a wonderful assortment of colors from my white doe - totally unexpected. It would probably be a lot easier if they had all just been all one color! I just adore the gray one..and the coal black one and..well the red one...and yeah, I want them all. I'm clueless as to gender. I need to research on the best age to determine that and then...hmmmm guess a bit and take pictures of lil rabbit parts and post them on here begging for second opinions!

Why not just keep them all? If you're like me, you can find an easy excuse for each one. ;) Soooo cute!

:clap2: Way to enable, Bitterroot! :clap2:

Of course then the cupboards-er freezer- will be bare. Slight problem there! ;)

Breed the doe back and then by the time they are ready for camp, there will be new babies to love on. :)

And by then if there are any nice does worth keeping you will know it.

Gotta build up the breeding herd, you know. :D

They are so adorable and look very healthy!

Don't listen to the enablers on here! You can keep only seven of them!

Oh wait... that's how many there are, isn't it? :tomato:

What are they? Other than beautiful, that is!

Right now I haven't eaten rabbit for MONTHS because they are selling like hot cakes  I couldn't GIVE them away this summer so we ate lots but now even I cant find any to buy - well, I do NEED more NZ colors - and my kits are selling out faster than they arrive.

A bit of a bummer when it comes to dinner but a nice boost to the rabbit food fund.

You might keep them for 12 weeks, see who you cant part with, and sell the rest as breeders instead of pets.

Win win and you become a nice vector for Rabbitosis
