Trouble dispatching with captive bolt gun (graphic photos)

Also make sure you are leaning into the shot, if you don't, it tends to bounce off the skill and it won't give a proper kill by hitting and scrambling the brain stem. Be sure to stir the bolt after you lean and fire.

    Best, Cleanest, Fastest Dispatch?

We recommend captive bolt guns. With correct usage and placement, you click the button and the rabbit is instantly dead. There's no loud noise, gore, bruised meat, and the usable portion of the pelt is totally untouched. Ours don't require cartridges and are easy to clean and maintenance...

I'll just mention, because I didn't see it listed anywhere else in this thread... Another method of dispatch is via captive bolt gun. It requires no cartridge or pellets and is quiet. The rabbits appear to "go to sleep"...

Sucked up water in her nose

thank you! she's around 4-5 months, almost senior size. I just have never seen a coughing/sneeze fit like this after water. Most of my rabbits have bottles but I ran out. She did this a bit last night too but not to this extent. I guess I need to find her a bottle asap.

Sucked up water in her nose

Had a doe drinking out of a shallow bowl of water tonight and of course, she manages to find a water to suck it up her nose. She had a good fit of gasping and sneezing it out. She's now intermittently doing a lighter sneeze. I offered her a tiny piece of banana peel and she went for her pellets...

    Ballista Captive Bolt. Any experience?

Yes, absolutely, we recommend mineral oil because it is food safe but does not spoil or go rancid like vegetable oils will. Can be found inexpensively at any pharmacy. Of course, any light machine oil would work as well since that part of the device is not coming in contact with food but we like...

    Ballista Captive Bolt. Any experience?

Hi there! If the head is firmly supported and you are giving gentle but firm downward pressure when pulling the trigger, then it is likely a placement issue. You may have it set too forward on the head. As with any dispatch method, there is a small learning curve but if your placement is off...

    Mastitis & Fostering...

Posting for a friend. She had a doe that got mastitis, by the time they noticed the condition the doe was too far gone (teats and surrounding area was black/painful and rabbit was off feed and water). So they put the rabbit down. Here's the big question: they well meaningly fostered off the...

Which commercial feed for best growth

I feed a 18% protein feed. Aside from pellet nutrition and protein levels, another thing to consider is the growth of your breeding stock purely due to their genetics. Note the fastest growers in your upcoming litters and their weights compared to other littermates. Best of luck!
