Trade wire or cage rows for rabbits in SE WI area

If anyone is interested, I have several cage rows - 10' long (will get other measurements tomorrow) and I have a couple rolls of cage wire (bought several years ago from Klubertanz and stored inside) that I am looking to trade for meat-type rabbits. I also have two rabbit carriers that can hold...

What types of hay are the best?

Forgot to add - I do not plan on feeding pellets. Just hay, grain (I can get oats and wheat), BOSS and whatever stuff I can gather from our property (3 acres). :)

What types of hay are the best?

I am doing my research for my rabbit feeding and am starting to look for hay suppliers. I can get all sorts of hay - I'm just not sure which is best! I plan to raise meat rabbits, if that makes a difference. I'm not worried about fast grow out - prefer them to be raised natural. I can get...

FODDER: A beginning. It's comin' along. Final shots.

Have you tried a bucket trap? If you set the trap with peanut butter the mice should ignore your fodder in favor of the PB! Edited to add: forgot the link: http://fivegallonideas.com/bucket-mouse-trap/

how much to charge per pound

Check to see how much the raw diet providers in your area charge. Hare Today (a US company) charges $23 for a skinned, gutted rabbit cut in half (estimate it being 4 lbs). So that's around $5.75 per pound (plus shipping costs).

    Calculating square footage question

When one is calculating the square footage available for rabbits, can you include any RAISED areas? I'm thinking that I could add quite a bit of room to my potential colony square footage if I added some shelves/platforms to the design. For example, if I put a 2' wide shelf, that was about 2'...

    Plant highest in protein?

Is there a list of the protein levels in different plants? I was wondering which green plant had the highest protein level (thinking of setting aside some space to plant thing just for the buns).

If you want to grind meat AND bones and you want to keep the cost under several hundred $$, look for a Tasin TS108. One Stop Jerky Shop currently has them on sale for $150: http://www.onestopjerkyshop.com/tasin-t ... -p-47.html I have owned these before and ground MANY a rabbit (and chicken...

I have to calculate the boarding fee based on several things - one being feed costs. :)

Trying to estimate feeding costs for herd share estimates

So I was turned onto the idea of herd sharing and I think it's going to work out quite well for me! I just need to work up the costs and pricing. Can everyone tell me the amounts of grains and hay you use for your rabbits? I don't need a 'per rabbit' breakdown - just how many rabbits you are...

    Outdoor rabbit colony housing idea

How about something like this: This is my OLD rabbitry building. I had cage rows hung in there and cage racks all along one length of it. It's about 10 feet wide and 30 feet long and my plans are to transform it into a colony setup this spring!!

    Rabbit Co-op?

Thanks for the tips!! I think I've got something I can work with. Since I'm not raising for human consumption there are no laws I need to worry about. Now to figure out all the details.

    Rabbit Co-op?

I know people that sell 'shares' in the produce they get from their gardens. Could you do the same with rabbits? I will be raising mainly for the raw feeding market (and my own dogs). I was thinking I could charge an initial joining fee (to offset the costs of building materials and basic...

Less skittish but good meat rabbit breeds?

I can't put up solid walls but I do plan to have some type of blockade - probably transplant my wild raspberries. I was trying to kill them off anyway. :)

Less skittish but good meat rabbit breeds?

I have my colony plans pretty much set but now I'm trying to decide on breeds to start with. The problem is ... dogs. We have 7 dogs. None of them will hurt the rabbits (I train them not to) so I'm not too worried about them. But they do run and bark and will be curious and such. We also...
