A step in the right direction, sort of...

Now maybe you could foster a couple of the NZW/Dutch kits to the Lionhead doe. Just a thought ... good luck!

    chocolate question

Yes, Thanks it is actually starting to make sense a little. I'm still a bit confused when it comes to the whole broken thing and modifiers and such. But a least it sounds like getting chocolates is doable in just a few generations so that is very exciting to me, Thanks again!

    chocolate question

Thanks for the answers. It is amazing to me how well you all know and understand this stuff. That was a better answer than I was even hoping for. It really gives us some direction to shoot for instead of just blindly breeding and wishing for. I'm already looking forward to breeding these...

    chocolate question

Thanks for the info. Looks like we will try to start a little chocolate factory. One other question then, I have a broken chocolate buck just weaned from a breeding of our chocolate satin Buck to a broken chestnut agouti mixed doe. If I grow out this little broken chocolate buck and breed him...

    chocolate question

Hello, I have a color question for all you experts. This may sound like a no brainer to you all but trying to figure out what you guys talk about here is like brain surgery to me. We have been raising rabbits for a long time but mostly meat rabbits and if we crossed anything we also crossed our...

    Choosing a breed...

We raise Satins, NZB, and Champagnes. The Satins are really cool and the come in such an array of colors. Just try something you are really drawn to, and have fun!

    Pictures of your rabbit cages

It is a darn shame that we cannot post pictures of our rabbitry or anything for that matter without someone else picking it apart trying to make someone else look or feel bad when we should be appreciative and respectfull and learn something from people doing things differently.

how many times do you breed?

Thanks to all who replied. I have done a bit more research and seems the more I learn, the less I know. No problems getting litters here, just trying to optimize things the best I can. I will try some experiments and document my findings this coming year and let you know!

how many times do you breed?

I have a breeding question. I have used several breeding techniques over the years but I wanted to get some current info on what people are doing now days to get the best conception rates and largest litters. I of course take the doe to the buck and then I watch and let him service her twice...

Anyone ever try crossing checkered giants?

All rabbits are meat...now that's awesome! Thanks for that, I just do meat for our own family so we dont have quotas and the kids like all the different color patterns. Looks like checkered giant crosses it is!

Anyone ever try crossing checkered giants?

Hello, just a quick question for you fellow meat eaters. I know checkered giants are not a meat rabbit but I found some pretty cheap and was wondering if anyone has crossed them with any luck to come up with some good fryers? Thanks!

    Broken or Charlie?

Yes this Buck is about 50% gray and 50% white. He does only have a little over half a mustache though. I'm not sure about the blue eye color thing though. I crossed 4 breeds, Californian, Florida White, Dutch (black), and a Red Satin to get one quarter blood from each. I selectively bred and...

    Broken or Charlie?

Well thank you to all who replied! I guess this maybe a little more complex than I can master right now. Maybe I will stick to solids for now, like chocolate Satins, that just sounds yummy too, ooooh solid satin chocolate! Thanks again everyone!

    Broken or Charlie?

Thanks for your help. I'm not sure of the background past the pedigree but nothing's that far back. So then is it true that no matter what the color to white ratio is, if the rabbit doesn't have the full nose coloring it is considered a Charlie? Would it be this Vienna gene then that messes with...
