I had some New Zealand Red 9 week kits that I decided to offer for sale before I sent them to camp. Posted my ads and had a guy call and arrange to meet me at my home around 5:30 one evening. He wanted a buck to replace another he had to cull. On the phone the guy sounded sound and I was kinda looking forward to meeting him. Told me he would be in a hurry as he had an appointment of some type at 6ish that same day. So I was aware that the exchange would be quick.

Well he beat me home and my Husband showed the rabbits - Up front my husband asked if he knew what he was looking for (sexing) as dear husband isn't (nor does he care to be) good at it. The guy said he did and started working through the grow pens. Found the rabbit he wanted paid my husband, shook hands and he was off. I arrived minutes later and probably passed the guy on the Highway. NOW - I had them all separated two to a cage by sex, alternating boy-girl. Didn't have cards on the cages because I knew what was what. When I walked out to see which buck he decided to get I realized he pulled a rabbit out of a cage that I had sexed as girls!

I am almost 95% sure he got a female not a male but I mean maybe it was a buck (but I don't think so). Part of me wonders if I should just wait and see if he calls me back in a week or two or maybe I should try and find his number again and check up. Don't really feel like it's MY PROBLEM but I do feel bad for the guy if he really needs a buck and got a doe!

I don't think it is your problem either...but it could become your problem if he wants to "exchange" the rabbit in a month or so when he finds out that he got the wrong sex. Unless you process it right away you could bring some unknown disease into your barn. Not that you would owe him an exchange or refund..after all HE sexed the rabbit not you. But if it were me I would try to reach him and let him know that he may have mis-sexed the bun...if he wants to keep her then maybe offer a deal on a "for sure" buck...just my 2 cents... :D
