I'm getting ready to build a new bunnybarn this weekend! I've got a question.

For roofing, should I stick with corrugated metal, or would white corrugated plastic work as well? I'm wondering because of the light that would come through the white plastic... but would that light make the rabbitry hot?

Any other ideas/suggestions/help? :p

If you use the Lowes panels, you can alternate, as in, some clear or translucent to let in light, while the majority is kept solid so they don't bake. Plus, they don't need painting like metal Doofing does.

They sell some that are semi transparent as well. I would alternate and go with semitransparent so they don't cook from the sun shining through.

I used the translucent panels from lowes for droppings boards between my upper and lower tiers of cages. I am not certain how they would hold up as roofing. They would probably do ok except for the occasional stray limb or other falling objects. ( how does some of the stuff that ends up on my roof end up on my roof anyway?)

I know they used to make some heavier gauge panels in fiberglass that are a bit more sturdy than the pvc ones I bought from Lowes. I have seen them used to roof many an outbuilding, porch, shed, and deerstand They will hold up fine.

Okay, so the translucent white ones will bring in some heat. I like the idea of alternating, and I'll pass that on to Shay.

Oh yes, I wasn't going with the transparent stuff for sure! I was thinking about the white panels. :)

Thank you, I'll have to look at those!

i use them for roofing on they dog kennels, and they seem ok. of course they are on wooden beams for support, and to keep them from blowing away.
