From a meat standpoint I'd have to say French. Some French angoras have awesome meaty bodies under all that wool, and so are more dual purpose. English on the other hand are not meaty, their just all wool. English wool is finer and mats easier too, so needs more care, and I prefer the cleaner looking head and face of the French, although the English is really very very cute. More work though I feel.

Personally, I say French. Clean furnishings, easier to groom and they don't need it as frequently, and like stated above, nice, meaty bodies under all that wool. I had to cull some kits to malocclusion, and there was quite a bit of meat for 8 week olds. Also, I talked to someone at a show/fiber festival recently, and she said that her English produce about three ounces of shorn fiber a molt. I'm getting four ounces Brushed ou of some of my smaller Frenchies, and 6 ounces a molt out of my highest producer. ( keeping in mind that the doe in question is 11.6 pounds, too big for show)

see if you can get some that do not molt, it sure cuts down on the grooming. But it also means you have to shear.
