I started a post on what the proper term was for putting a rabbit down and now I can't find it. I thought the conversation was going smoothly. Did I do something wrong?
I don't think it was you, a lot of us got WAY off-topic and then it kinda went downhill from there. Sorry.
The general consensus seemed to be that there are plenty of terms for it, like cull, dispatch, process, et cetera. Grumpy did mention that he wouldn't use cull for an animal meant to be killed and eaten as it implies an animal not of quality, which I felt was pretty interesting.
Sorry LuvmyKiddos, we had to delete it for reasons not related to you or your original question. Here is my take on it:
Cull = remove from breeding herd. This can be done by selling, giving away, or dispatching.
Dispatch = the act of killing an animal that is raised for meat.
Clean/Process = the act of skinning and removing the internal organs from an animal carcass.
Butcher = the act of cutting a cleaned carcass into pieces for cooking.
i was wondering what happened to it too. i had missed the whole thing and when i saw it today... it wasnt there. lol i thought it was just my bad luck!
personally if i'm talking about culling then that means i need rid of it because its not what i want in my breeders. so selling to someone who wants those qualities for breeding, sell as pet quality, possibly dispatch for meat.
culling doesnt always mean dispatching and using for meat. which alot of pet people dont understand and start freakin out at the word. just my experience anyhow.
