I really should carry a video camera around with me.

The little ducklings were exhausted after a hard morning of playing hide and seek with mama, they positioned themselves in a semicircle and fell asleep in the sun. After an equally hard morning of trying to keep up with the children, mama duck lay down beside them and started dozing too.

Then papa drake came and sat down beside mama duck and started ruffling her feathers then preening, ruffling and preening, ruffling and preening. She ignored him. He climbed on her back and after grabbing a beak-full of neck feathers had his way with her. W@hen he'd finished he got off, gave himself a good shake and wondered off to do important drake things.

Mama duck continued to doze with her children, never once having shown any recognition of her husband even existing.

LOL Ducks are great! Wish I could have some. :) We used to have mallard and before that muskovey. They were neat!
What kind do you have?

They're muscovies. O just have the one pair now.

I used to have indian runners, they were really cute.
