My husbands uncle got 2 free lop eared bunnies, he only wanted the cages so he gave the rabbits to me. He has their papers but forgot them so he doesn't know what they are,(bringing them later) the ad only said lop eared bunnies.

The doe is a broken/booted? tort weight is 4 pounds 11 ounces. Buck is a tort and weighs 3 pounds 10 ounces. Both are underweight, the buck more so. I am thinking mini lop but I don't know, they could be big Holland lops? What do you think they are? Also what do you think of them? the doe is calmer so she stayed still for the pic, the buck was more nervous and I didn't want to stress them too much.

Being that small I think they are Holland Lops. Mini Lops are around 5-7 lbs. French and English Lops are both big bunnies at 10 lbs and up so my vote is Holland Lops. :) Their both pretty! :D

thanks! After looking up mini lop info I didn't realize minis weighed that much. My guess the doe is more than likely a brood size Holland then, I will have to weigh them again once they put a little weight on, the doe doesn't need to gain much but the buck I can really feel his spine :( I don't know if I am going to keep them or not, but if I didn't take them they was going to be eaten by my Uncle, I will just see how they turn out once I get them cleaned up. The doe at least would be a nice pet, she is super friendly.

Bless their little hearts and yours for rescueing them. I'm guessing Easter bunnies somebody was done with? They are both nice looking bunnies. Glad they are with you now, heaven only knows what they've been through.
It'll be neat to see what the papers say. I wonder how old they are? :)

Got their papers! They are brother and sister Holland lops, born January 14, 2012. They originally came from a good Holland breeder, several GC in the ped. I guess they was last years Easter presents that the kids got tired of, and since they are moving they didn't want to take them with them. Still not sure what I am going to do with them, the doe is an absolute sweetie, maybe I will keep her and get an unrelated buck.

Sweet! Thats a great find! Hopefully you can find a nice buck for her. She's very pretty. He's a cutie too, you could advertise him and maybe somebody would like a nice buck and with luck maybe a breeder will want him. Maybe they would trade! :p

I think I may try and contact the breeder since his info is on the pedigree even if he doesn't want the buck back I can always get a different buck from him

__________ Fri Apr 26, 2013 1:56 pm __________

Uhoh!
