These kits are from three different litters. One is from a Siamese sable x REW.

The two that look alike are from either chinchilla x REW or black x rew.

The light colored kit looks like the sable chinchilla we got out of the doe's mother's last litter but it could be some variation of the Siamese sable as well.

The two dark kits have a brown color over thr black so I cannot tell if they will be chestnuts but they do notnhave agouti marks. What else is there? Steel? Why would it have a copper or brown sheen?

Second looks like a gold-tipped steel but I'm not very good with the different colors of steel

The first kit looks like it's probably sable chin, which has both shaded points and agouti markings. I can't see the kit's belly but it seems to have eye rings and lighter ear linings. A siamese sable is a self, so has no agouti markings.

The second two are steels. A steel is basically an agouti with the addition of a steel gene, which results in the bands being all scrunched up to the tip of the hair, and the markings on eyes/ears/jowls/belly mostly or completely eliminated. So a chestnut agouti-based steel has gold/brown tips; a chinchilla-based steel has white/silvery tips.

Chestnut agouti = <A_B_C_D_E_>
Steel (aka Black Gold-tipped Steel) = <A_B_C_D_Es_>
Silver-tipped Steel = <A_B_cchd_D_Es_>

Thanks for the explanation! I may have some blue based steels in thr nestbox as well.

The sable chinchilla kit is from a siamese sable doe of unknown parentage and a rew buck from a long line of rew. I am anxious to see what other colors can pop up out of the rew. So far only rew and the sable chin and possibly a sable kit that was lost because she left the nestbox too early.

I do have a sable chin from the doe's mother's litter and I wonder about keeping these two to make more sable chins...
