AHEM!

I meant to say, I am so happy she is feeling better.

Even if she is still not-so-Classy, with her bad hare day.

I love DE a lot of people think it is just hype but its worked wonders for My CHICKEN bUNS...GARDEN,....Cat ...dog...etc :) Im glad the mystery is solved and you got a handle on it

Sorry for my ignorance, but what exactly is DE and where can I get some at? I want to be prepared in case we start getting fleas around here sometime.

So! Is there a rabbit-safe way to treat her? I don't think the DE is gonna cut it with our horrible sand fleas. :( I've heard injected Ivermectin (sp?) will work, is that safe? Bearing in mind I'm hoping she's bred. :(

I realize this is a very old post, but... 'sand fleas' are not actual fleas and flea treatments will not work on them.

Sand fleas are actually tiny crustaceans. I'm not sure what to do about them. We deal with them when we go to the beach. We've decided that they are actually attracted to radiant heat... they jump on your skin, from the warm sand, as the evening cools.

I think that what she saw on her rabbit was an actual flea. ;)

I think they mean Diatomaceous Earth - I've seen it for sale at Tractor Supply

The DE at TSC is Red Earth, Bentonite clay and DE together. It will work the same, just leaves the coat a little more yucky than food grade white DE.

Diatomaceous earth kills things with exoskeletons (fleas, ants) so it would kill crustaceans too. You can find it at most farm/feed stores.

I think it would work as well... I was thinking of traditional flea treatments, like flea powder, flea soap, sprays and such. :)
