]What do you think he is? He's about 3 pounds. His fur is long and he sheds a lot. When you pet him fur gets everywhere. At first I thought he was polish but his ears are shorter than my polishes. Also his head is bigger and rounder, like a Dwarf but he's not as small and doesn't quite have that baby look Dwarfs have. Think he might be half Polish, half Dwarf. Neighbor found him at a pet store. They told her he was a Hoto Dwarf. Doesn't look like a Hoto to me!. I'd like to know what he is, he's mine now.I'd like to know opinion. Thanks.IMG_20131014_112759-1-1.jpgIMG_20131014_112622-1-1.jpg

__________ Mon Oct 14, 2013 12:24 pm __________

Sorry about the picture at the bottom being the same s the first. No master what I did it kept coming up that way.

Oh, so maybe the pet store was right! Ingesting. Thanks. If he is a ND and he's bred with another rabbit with the Dwarf gene, will we get Dwarfs do you think? I'm kinda confused about that Dwarf gene thing.

Looks like an agouti based himilayan Netherland dwarf and I think he does carry the dwarf gene. Only one dwarf gene is needed to get dwarf rabbit, getting two dwarf genes is fatal and will create peanuts that die in-utero or if born rarely live more than a few days.

If you breed him to another dwarf you will get 25% non dwarfs, 50% dwarf and 25% peanuts.

If you breed him to a small breed non dwarf you'll get 50 % non dwarfs, 50% dwarfs and 0 peanuts.

Thanks for your help. It prompted me to google Himalayan Dwarf. I found a web site all about them. He looks like one and the description of his docile and cuddly personality fits their description as well. He's fathered kits already and about half seem to not be growing out of the round head baby look. Starting to look like dwarfs. Not quite as compact as the NDs I've seen pictures of. They're moms polish. They're cuties. Btw you can't really tell in the pictures but he has red eyes. He hadn't posted that on yet.
