I happened across this local add. Planning to just go with Mini Lops going forward. However I do have a Chesnut Agouti Holland Lop Buck. So I was curious about her.

What color is she?
Would this gal be something color wise that could work with him?

Thank You!! I did email the person who listed her but I figured you all would likely know better than the person who has her what color she is! :D

The color is a black tort. I do not work with the color in my Mini Lops so I do not know how it will click with chestnut.

I recently bred a chestnut elop to a broken blue tort. I got three broken chestnuts, two torts, two broken blue torts, and a black. If a chestnut carries non-extension like mine, you can get more torts and fawns/oranges, and if they both carry dilutes, you should get some opals, creams and blues in the mix. I was surprised I got no opals or oranges/fawns/creams in my new litter. If they don't have the non-extention or dilute, you will most likely get blacks and chestnuts. Of course, there are lots of other options depending on the C gene.

I'm not sure how show quality the agouti colors like chestnut and red would be from a tort cross. I've only dealt with castors for show quality agoutis and they can be really tricky. It's usually suggested to only breed castor to castor to avoid all the little shading problems that occur with crossing them to other colors.

Thank you for the replies & info! This does help me. After reading your replies and giving more thought I've decided to pass on this rabbit & just stick with the plan I had - focus on Mini Lops and sell my Holland Lop Buck. He has serious spraying problem anyways and I plan to move my rabbits into stacking cages I've ordered for our shop area in the coming weeks. Definitely don't want a big time sprayer in there. Maybe it's just the ones I've had but all the Holland Lops I've had have not been as sweet or low maintenance as my Mini Lops. Thanks for helping me decide.

Castor is the same as chestnut in other breeds :) Tort is not ideal, can make for poor ring color in chestnut or too red of an appearance. It is better to breed chestnut to chestnut (or black, etc depending on goal). If you're trying to break into ARBA showing, save your money and get a better doe to go with your buck. I don't know what you have for a buck, but with Holland Lops finding at least a broody doe with thick bone, wide hindquarters, and a decent width to head is a good idea. Even though there isn't enough of a side view to really give a good idea on her and her age is not ideal to look at on Hollands or a picture of her parents to see what she might look like as she ages (they can go through some pretty bad teen uglies), she doesn't look to be wide in her face, ears are longer than would like, lacks bone and seems to be long. She looks like a good pet or starter 4H bunny for like showmanship or fun shows though.
