I know the pics are not great, but am trying to find out if this little guy is a lynx or fawn or something different...who knows? 😅 His mother is an Opal and father is Blue Otter...the mothers pedigree shows Tri-blue/fawn and Self Blue parents, but also has lilac and Harlequin and Chocolate ind Grand Dam and Sire...father's pedigree has been misplaced but past breeding to a black otter provided 1 self blue, 2 black otter 3 blue otters and a very poorly colored light fawn and blue brindling so possibly poor harlequin ...oh almost forgot..nails are light tinted but not white and eyes are brown but have a ruby cast..Any comments or help appreciated

Looks fawn, but an Opal bred to a blue anything can't produce fawn. Are you sure of the parents?

Yes, I have both parents and bred them myself and was the only buck I had at the time of breeding and kindling..Here is a pic of rest of litter mates...dad is almost identical to the bun on far left ..I can post pics of both parents tomorrow

Blue fawn is an option and that's what it looks like to me.

Opal: AaB_C_ddE_
Blue otter: ataB_C_ddEe
Blue fawn: A_B_C_ddee

The opal must also carry non-extension if this is the case. (Ee)

When I bred this male blue otter to another doe black otter ended up with 1 self blue, 2 blue otters, 2 black otters and this little doe...he seems to always throw a curve ball offspring...lol..the black otter is of unknown line and mixed Rex so was just experiment on color.

Interesting...thank you for the info

Hmm, in English angoras, I don't know if we have an official 'blue fawn'. Cream is A _ _ dd ee, but creams are usually lighter, I think.

Blue Fawn is a good name for what color your bunny could be. Is it a Rex?

This could very well be possible they were breeding for tri colors where I got her...if my little understanding of the E gene is correct she would have been trying or hoping for Ee genetics.

If they were breeding for tricolor then a fawn "ee" would be helpful since tricolor is eje or ejej. Full extension "E" in the tricolor would turn things harlequinized instead of harlequin.

A_B_C_ddEej would be a harlequinized opal instead of a blue fawn tricolor.

So they would ideally be trying to get away from full extension E and save the non-extension ee back to breed to a rabbit that is/carries ej.

Anyway, hope this helps with your doe! She's so soft and delicate looking. 🤗 Such a pretty color.

Thank you...only thing it's a buck...I want to keep him but don't need another buck 😅...guess it's decision time since this little guys father is coming up on 5 years old might be time for him to retire.

Ok trying to narrow down some color genetics here, so any input would be helpful...my opal doe x with my blue otter buck produced this fawn in the previous posts along with an opal and a self blue and a blue otter...I know she carries harlequin in her pedigree so wanted to see what we got out of breeding her to a tort buck that has tort, broken black and black in his pedigree....here is that litter, they are only just now getting fur but I'm so happy we got some solid blacks even though wasn't really breeding for that.. is it safe to say mom carries E extension due to breeding to ee tort and producing these harlequinized kits?

The orange/brown/tan kit looks like they have Har or broken, but I've never seen a broken that wasn't white. I would say that the doe definitely caries some other genetics

She was out of a tri color breeding program...her dam was blue/fawn tri..ideally being an opal she should really only be bred to opal, but I have no opal bucks, unfortunately...so I am breeding just to see what she may have hidden and hoping for another non extension, but need a doe, last one was buck..so it's more an experiment in color at this point...of, course this will end up producing more pet quality kits due to unshowable colors.
