Country Mile has a box of 2 week old kits -- 9 of them. Their first week it was cold around here so the box was full of hay and fur. Then, it got back up into the 60's/70's and she ate out the hay so her babies wouldn't be too hot. Last night, we had a windy, cold night. I hadn't expected that so had not checked the amount of hay in the nestbox before dark. This morning, I find one kit outside the box but hugging it for all it was worth. Alive and well so it wasn't out for long. The nestbox had very little hay in it but was FULL of fur!! It is a wonder CM even had any fur left for herself with all she pulled to keep her babies warm last night! So, I added hay to the nest box and repositioned the kits into their now snuggly warm nestbox. I was just so proud of CM...she has really become a very good mom!
