Well that escalated quickly!

Ok so a bit of a back storey, my two does and buck got out, one doe has hung around and the other doe and buck have buggered off.

I was thinking of waiting around and seeing If my other doe (my favorite of the two) and the buck came back then if not looking for some new breeding stock.

Long story short I went and bought 3 very nice rabbits today, two does (ones an insane monster) and a nice wee buck, all 12 weeks old.

I'll catch my other doe tomorrow and Hopfully organize a breeding with a friend's buck for next week.

I also emailed about ANOTHER mature breeding doe roday, just waiting to hear back on her age and weight before I make a move on her.

So excited!
I'll have to get pictures tomorrow of my growing wee group of buns, especially my monster doe, I'll weigh her too, the new three are also very well natured which is wonderful!

Rabbits are addicting and soon you'll be up to your ears in popples.

If a predator hasnt got them yet, I bet your missing buck (and possibly your doe) will come around to check out new comers so keep an eye out for them.

I'm understanding the addiction now!
I'm expecting my 50m electric mesh tomorrow so I'll be able to start preparing my colony area.

I'll be Hopfully picking up a couple hutches tomorrow too so I'll be able to move everyone down to the paddock.

Digging wise I'm thinking of lining the ground with mesh to prevent the majority of it.

And yes that is my landlords very tubby kune pig who is long over due for the freezer, but he's having the same problem as I'm having with my steer, all the homekill butchers being booked out for the xmas period.

This is all very expensive but I'm trying not to skimp on anything (stock, pens, hutches) because the majority of it is once off buys.

Can't wait to weigh the big girl tomorrow too!

I couldn't help myself haha, the male was a tiny bit smaller than his litter mate but he has a great temperament so that made the decision for me.

Haha. I had taken 9 rabbits to auction and came home with 7. Yup rabbit math.

:lol: Kinda like I was going to pick up one rabbit, which turned into three, and I came home with four...

Well I had gone to get 1 rabbit and came home with 5 about a month ago... yep, rabbit math

Update!

I have gotten my electric fence all set up and introduced the two new does to my existing doe and after a bit of chasing round (well Mon just watched the other two) they are best of friends, most of the time they are asleep together in a pile!

I wanted for them to settle and now I have my buck in the smaller section.

I am picking up another mature doe tomorrow so as soon as the buck is old enough he will be starting his duties, or I may ask a friend if I can use there buck for the mean time.
Here's hoping all four does can make it work!
