I live near Dayna and this is the peak of rat season here. I see plenty at my place but have not had kits killed (but I don't have small babies at the moment). I have seen a rat in a cage a couple times but they were content with stealing food. Once I saw a rat in with in with a litter of babies (not tiny babies), but they weren't hurt. I wonder if a rat is smart enough to sneak in with the babies and nurse from the mom?Eww!). I have a cat who is an amazing ratter and leaves one on my deck every day and she isn't interested in chicks. She would probably kill a tiny baby rabbit that got loose but doesn't hurt older ones. She is a tiny cat, most rabbits outweigh her.
