Two does day 31,two nests built, one pulled a small amount of fur..uuuggghhh...I hate waiting....I can see the babies kicking... the does are nibbling at hay and pellets..They will deliver after the night rounds..they just want to drive me crazy...at least it's a short trip.... :pancake:

day 32 still w a i t i n g ......... :tumbleweed2: :tumbleweed2:

-- Mon Apr 20, 2015 10:40 am --

Well, both does kindled yesterday, the first one in the afternoon, she had 2 that's right 2, the second one last night she has 3... :?: :?: :?: I don't know what is happening....These are large meat buns.Around 10 lbs..the smallest litter out of either one has been 6. They are 1 yr. old. the bucks are 2 and 10 months. so no one is to old or out of eggs or sperm...Their mom who is about 2 1/2 had a litter of 3 the last time too.
Any body got any ideas? The food is the same the location is the same weather is pretty nice. The oldest doe I considered a fluke, but two more tiny litters has me scratching my head..all the babies are healthy and active, not overly large.I am just about done for the spring getting ready to shut down production for summer. I have three more pregnant does due in about 21 days. I guess we will have to see what they give me....This is just frustrating How can does that never have less than 6 suddenly have 2 or 3????

After much consideration all I can think of is internal fat...the prior litter was weened at 4 ,weeks put in grow out at ,8 does were bred the following week..so I waited to long..The does had unlimited access to feed. So I am sure that they ate to much. Uggghh how am I going to fill my freezer at that rate.. :explode:

-- Tue Apr 21, 2015 2:57 pm --

I fostered the three kits to the better doe and processed the mean doe. She didn't have much milk..and there was three embryos in the uterus..they were only about an inch and a half long, and were, I think, in the process of being absorbed.. there was some fat packed around the area, but she was a fairly lean doe. There was not as much as I had suspected but more than should have been there.
I am sure the other doe has more, she's a chunky one. But she's a heavy milker and is a better mother overall. She has excepted the kits and nursed them right away...even though she had already fed this morning.. :D
