I bred my harle FG cross doe to my purebred lilac Standard Rex buck.
Thought we might get some pretty mutts... *12* chestnuts
They are now 3 weeks old, and I know that the first generation cross won't give you rex coats.
Breeding a daughter back to the rex buck could produce rex coats.
Which I may try just for kicks.
I have noticed two coats types in the litter.
Normal coats, and some that are not full rex, but definitely have a plusher appearance and shorter guard hairs.
You can especially see this around the faces of the rexy ones, they look more rex because you see the definition due to the hair type.
It also shifts and stands like pile vs. typical flat coat.
Not sure if these pics help at all!
So... is this evidence of anything?
Should I choose one of these to keep and breed back to the sire for rex coated mutts?
They would *all* carry a rex gene from their sire, so incomplete dominance doesn't really follow since not all have this in between coat texture.
I *know* some of you know what this is all about... will you please fill me in? opcorn: opcorn:
