So cute! I refuse to have guinea pigs after a traumatic experience many moons ago, but I see photos like that and waver. Poor mom though, they already look to be half her size!

They are darling! That little black tri with barely any color is adorable. :)

ya he has 2 tiny white spots on his head, one tiny brown/red spot on his ear and a splotch on his back leg, and he has some cute white splotching on his belly/neck/chin but he wont let me flip him to take a pic.

I have never seen baby guinea pigs before.
Are they really born with that much hair, and eyes open?

BTW. Soooo adorable!

thanks :)
yes they are born like that. it is believed that the babies eyes open about ten days before birth (yes when the babies are still in the mom).
guinea pigs and rabbits are pretty much the same just slightly different in my mind.
guiena pigs are pregnant for about 2 months. babies are born with eyes open, with fur, usually eatin regular food within 24 hrs of birth.
rabbits are pregnant for about 1 months. babies eyes open and get good fur by about 2wks old, start eating food about 2-3wks old.
so if you put both on a timeline for when they were bred then the babies are actually developing about the same time. just with guinea pigs i dont have to worry about helpless nekkid and blind babies who HAVE TO have mom for at least 4wks.

They are sooo adorable!! It was always fun to come home to a guinea pig greeting
I love listening to them! Congrats again! :)

MORE BABIES :D

Were these ones an "expected surprise"? :p

 well i dont know what i was doing when i counted last time because i just recounted and they had them about at the *real* due dates. i dont know why i thought she was due on valentines day...

i recounted when i think the last 2 sows are due. march 10.

__________ Sat Apr 13, 2013 10:29 pm __________

new babies :) this is a new sow who was bred with the new boar i got along with her. next time she'll be bred to one of the other boars though. there are two babies.

and here is the longhair boar and the two boars (moms are the himi sows) from the last round of babies

that white trash can in the back is what i fill up with grass for them. i get that full and thats about how much they get between em all in grass. long as its not bad weather or winter, etc that i can get out and cut grass/forage for them.
also working on a tractor or movable pen or rotational pasture for them.

They are so cute... but OGG, I think you dropped your wig in that last photo!

Boy, that trash can looks like it holds a lot of grass- they can eat that much in a day?
