I understand the reasons, then it becomes a risk to take if you are willing. It's a tricky situation indeed. I don't recommend it to beginners, though.

What's left of my herd after the big ME disaster, is stronger now. Generally, I cull anything that get sick, no exceptions, even those who recover. With the big disaster potentially losing 4 breeds of rabbits, I decided to wait it out. The Jersey Woolies handled it like troopers, I only lost two of 20, and they continued to breed like fruit flies. The others--well whatever I have left, is here, Silver Fox and Angora programs all but wiped out. I had a litter of 5 Rex, which I tried to save, it was that important. Some bunny had to be the test bunny, and I had nothing to lose as the herd was already affected. I lost 2 of 5, and considering this was some kind of mystery illness that went cross country, I will forgive them, as they recovered with only a bit of neomycin, pro biotic and electrolyte solution.

__________ Sun Jan 12, 2014 5:15 pm __________

Sadly I have found that if I bring in outside bloodlines that are not related to mine, I end up having to put some down as they develop symptoms
Have you kept track of the rabbits you sell? Do they infect the other rabbits in the home or neighbourhood they travel to?

That is the problem I could not reconcile, the same problem with anything that appears to cure symptoms. Can they still infect others? I can't take buns to shows without knowing that, and if I can't show anymore, then I don't really need these rabbits.
