Thoughts on what this combo would produce?

I have a mixed breed buck that when crossed with a NZW throws out some colorful kits! I actually gave him to DH's cousin, but am going to get him back just so I can have some fun, colorful litters every now and then (in hopes that maybe once I get a bit better understanding genetics and record keeping I can have some good, fun colored meat mutts).

So, this is him:

I picked him up randomly because I thought his coloring was neat (he was one of the first 3 I bought, not having a clue what I was doing ;) ). While he's no overly fancy, but here is some of his offspring when crossed with a NZW (I figured they would be mostly white with a few specks of color here and there... shows how much I know! ):

Soooo... what I am wondering is, (purely out of curiosity) what might come from a combo of him and a Creme D'Argent? She's getting close to breeding age so I thought it might be interesting to see.

He looks like a broken tri-colour.
And your NZW, having the 'cc' for albino, is actually *some* colour beneath the masking effect of the white.
So you see the combo of their possibilities in the kits.
The Creme would be a different genotype than the NZW, so your combo would vary... try looking up the genotype for a Creme and working it out against the sire's broken tri.

The buck is a tri colour (A_ B_ C_ D_ ej e ENen SISI)
A Creme D'Argent is a silvered fawn (A_ B_ C_ D_ ee enen SIsi sisi)

So they are practically the same except for 3 genes - harlequin, broken and silver

You will mostly get fawns, harlequins and some broken fawns and tri colours and they probably won't have any silvering

And now to look up what all that means  . Totally a newbie :whistle2: I will have to check out the stickies at the top of this section to see what all they have...

So... what is the "coding" for a NZW? And how to you know what will transfer from one to another? If the same letters match up? I assume uppercase are dominant genes and the lowercase are recessive?

 I just noticed I made an error of the silver gene for the Creme :D

REW (and himilayan and Blue Eyed White {BEW}) have the unique abilty to hide a rabbits other genetic colours so the genotype / code for REW is __ __ cc __ __ __ __ __

BUT

We are given clues to these rabbits genotype by what colour offspring they produce and your REW doe must carry full extension and non extension to have produced tri, harlequin and chestnut kits and has one broken gene or none

__ __ cc __ Ee _en __ __

Ah... ok... so there's really know way to know the genotype for a NZW until it's bred to something else and you see what you have? So just because I got harlequins with one NZW doe pairing doesn't mean I will get it with the next, correct? Now I want to go get that buck back and breed him to all 6 of my NZW does, just for fun! (I'm not being a total indian giver, he mainly took him because he wanted to try breeding his rabbit, and housed him since I ran out of hutch space... did my math wrong while buying rabbits... oops  ).

Why oh why did I even get my mind started on this?? I couldn't be happy with plain 'ol white rabbits, could I?? :wall:
