have a wire dog crate with no bottom-- by design--- and the rabbits have been getting rotated in in-- about two hours each, in order to graze down my patio area grass. They are loving it. I've got remnant of a silver, cheap Christmastime tablecloth put in service as shade, sun reflector. My little stinkers are quite happy- grass, dandelion, plantain and purslane are the salad bar offerings. By tomorrow evening, I should have a nicely trimmed 'lawn' :D

I made similar out of an old baby crib, cut the legs off, and took out the mattress. But mine don't EAT!! :( They play, chew the bars, laze in the grass, or sit around looking worried, according to their temperament, but don't settle down to eat, so I still have a lawn mower. Sigh.

Silly bunnies, not eating those gourmet greens while they have the chance! Do they eat the weeds and grass if you gather them and give it to them in their cages? It might be that they are not relaxed enough in the pen to give their attention to eating. Or maybe they are just having too much fun. :D

Oh yeah, they will eat what I gather and bring them in their cozy little home--they remind me of certian people I know, willing to eat food I have grown, prepared and canned, but not willing to put a seed in the ground themselves! HMMPH!

:)
lucky rabbits .. my guys (and gals) are thrilled to be getting bunny yard time again - though they do love the serving aspect of fresh food too :)

My two does are accustomed to being out 'on pasture'- so it is not hard to see how the third, jr buck, could pick up the idea, and of course, the kits-- oddly, they seemed to know right off what the dog crate was for! I intend to get another ex-pen soon-- or at least make a nice wire enclosure, so they can bink around a bit more-- the combination of exercise and eating as they move is very beneficial for the digestive health.
