Okay, so I really need a good guide as far as identifying Rex colors if you all know of one that gives a long list of the non-recognized colors as well. These are my monster Rex kits (they're growing like weeds!!! Only 12 days in this pic) I know that the color on the kit's back is a beautiful castor, but the markings on the side must be a mis-mark. They look like Opal? not sure. I'd love to get the low down on the genetics too, if you have any clue. That way I can find what's hiding in the parents' backgrounds.

What would you call it? Thanks

The first two pics are the parents, The Buck is a Broken Castor with a wide band gene, and the Doe is a Castor.

I was going to recommend the same site. Rare to find a list of Standard Rex colors that are not recognized, usually I look at the Mini Rex or Holland site. It's like some big secret, most Rex breeders only breed the basic colors, you'd be hard pressed to find a picture of a Seal, Sable or Cal Rex, or Lynx, Chocolate or Lilac Otter, and the unrecognized colors are generally culled before anyone sees them. My breeder culls Self Chins as well, like it's a horrible thing.

All of my Castors look like that for some time, the gray is normal. At 6-8 weeks, you can blow into the fur and tell whether it will be a wide band or normal. Somewhere between 8 weeks and jr prime, the gray molts out, the rufus darkens, and the black tipping begins to cover the surface. 6 mos should be the final color and texture, though I have had them go as long as 8-10 mos, and get darker.
