Hey all
One of my does kindled 3 days ago and I got a bit of a suprise at the colours.
Doe is a black VM - was a stray so no pedigree
Buck is a broken agouti (chestnut) carrying dilute gene
I was semi expecting a 50/50 split of broken agouti and self agouti (maybe 1 self black)
Instead I have 3 broken agouti
2 agouti
1 black self vm
1 blue self?
1 unknown any help identifying would be much appreciated whilst I wait for fur to grow in. Second to bottom in the pic.1000015483.jpg

Here, 'pink' newborns usually grow white coats (ermine, Himi, REW or BEW) or they have the orange/fawn non-extension gene (tort, orange/fawn). Looking at your photo, the unknown kit is not as clear pink at the broken kit below it.

That would suggest to me a non-extension orange/fawn-based color. Could be orange/fawn agouti, as the inner ears are already light, can't use that as a clue. Torts (self non-extension 'ee') generally don't start to show their point colors for several days. (In Angoras, we call the yellowish tone 'fawn', and the dilute 'cream'; other breeds call the dense non-extension color 'orange', and the dilute 'fawn'.) Typically, my reds have a redder-than-pink skin at birth.
