In other words, I'm building a new pen
I realized my rabbits won't reach 3kg in 3-4 months so I needed some extra space. It's not looking neat or pretty, but I have the feeling my rabbits won't care  I'm sort of enjoying the... personality... of my grow-out rabbit town. I should make a new pen facing the other two and I'd have a main street! It would be t's own little town in the backyard of our neat little farm. My carpenter-ancestors are probably turning in their graves..
Well well... pictures.
This is the spot I got to use. (Strangely my father doesn't want my artistic constructions all over the place ) It's roughly 3x3m. Maybe a tad less.
Started by getting some sort of frame here. Note the lovely straight lines it makes.. It's not easy building in a slope.
So this is what I found for roofing. And I'll leave it like that, it should be enough to leave them protected spots in bad weather. (the old tree-trunk is in the pen as well with roof over it). I also made the door.
And the final picture. I need to buy wire and wrap around it, including the floor. I may cover the one side with wood as well, to protect from winds coming from the field. Once the wire is there I'll set the roof permanently and build a shelf and such in there for hideouts and extra space.
All material this far is stuff that's been dumped around here. Planks saved from some old house or something I figure. Only think I need to buy is new wire. Even the nails I've used was some I found in a box of old, non-straight nails.. I have others but I liked the concept of finding what straight ones there were left as I worked. I hate spending mony/resources on things that won't be perfect.. even with brand new wood and things it would look crooked. I like this old looking style though.. maybe I'm weird but I think it's charming. x)
