I've been carding the Angora wool into sheep's wool to make a softer, lighter yarn. (and fuzzy). The resulting yard almost seems "heathery". But I'd like to do some straight Angora yarn...but I'm having a devil of a time figuring out how to spin the stuff. It just seems so fine that it goes REALLY fast and I end up with nothing in my hands....

If anyone has any tips for poor me? please, purty please?

Things I learned about spinning angora.

When drafting the angora make that "triangle" web of fiber and let the twist run up the fiber, then draw out from the triangle.

I don't try to "long draw" with the angora.

I try to "overtwist" angora compared to sheep wool.

I have made "lumpy" angora yarn. When I plied two lumpy singles the lumps tend to even out.

We found that carding the angora makes it easier to create a more even yarn.

We found that blending angora with scratchy fiber does not make the yarn less scratchy.

I hope that helps.
Have a good day!
