Hm, a lot depends on your vet, so I would have a talk with them anyway.

I would say, wait until the kits are weaned, then one or two weeks more for the milk to dry up and hormones to settle.

But technically it's possible at any time, last year I had an emergency spay done after a surprise litter of my 7yo retired doe, kit got stuck all night and she was in bad shape when I found her. Vet didn't give her much chances but tried anyway - they were not open on Saturday, but answered my call and did the surgery :), although the odds were bad Red recovered pretty fast and is still a happy, old outdoor bunny. I'm sure some vets would have presented euthanising her as the only option in this situation.
