My first litter of 10 FG mix kits (well, FGish... mama was supposed to be all FG but I'm a newbie LOL).
I have three I am going to grow out, I am the least certain about the buck, but he has really caught up in size, so maybe.

But I'd love some help sorting out their potential genetics so I can play around a little
There were two sires (teenage 'breeder'), I bought dam pregnant.
One sire looked like a broken blue, very large, but obviously not FG colours.
The second I would say was more like a smoked pearl... white with smudgy blue points, not full on coloured like himalayan colouring.

Three of the litter are fawn with blue undertones.
7 are brindles/ harlequin in various amounts.

Can you tell me what you see in these guys?

This is mom, Clover.
This photo shows the extent of her brindle:
(I am guessing she would be: A_ B_ C_ D_ ej_ (likely e?) )~ what do you think?

This is Captain Holly, she has the heaviest marks, with obvious bands and mild symmetry (ie both front legs are fully marked)
I am just trying to figure out the whole banding thing, as I have a light grey FG buck, but I'll get to him :D
She is weighing 1 kg at 5 weeks.
A_ B_ C_ D_ ej_ (??)

She has lovely broad ears and more body length/ bone.
She was the biggest kit until this week, when others caught up to her at 1 kg.
Again, A_ B_ C_ D_ ej_ ?
(bad pic, sorry!)

And these are the three I may keep to watch and see, including the biggest buck, Fiver.
He has a marked eye on one side and ear on the other with minor body marks closer to back end and heavy on belly.

I have bred Clover to my light grey FG buck (he is purebred), I know fawn and light grey don't mix  but I want to see what he might through up against Clover's ej
As a Light Grey he is A_ B_ cchdcchd D_ E_ and "ww" <--- I don't get what the ww does? Or what it might do with this mix?

My thought is, depending on what this litter suggests (due first week of June), breeding Bigwig (the grey FG) to the doe kits I am keeping~
we could see magpies? What else?
The questions will be esp. on the C locus and E locus, yes?

Thanks!
I am learning so much here and I appreciate the help with my (many) questions! :)

You should have gotten 50% broken and some chestnuts if the broken blue was the sire so of you didn't get any then I suspect the other buck is the dad

The "smudgy blue points" you describe sounds like a frosty /ermine =A_ B_ cchd_ (or cchl_ ) D_ ee and makes more sense since, if I recall correctly, you got all harli kits

This means the doe is likely - A_ B_ CC D_ ej ej

And the kits are all - A_ B_ Ccchd (or Ccchl or Cch or Cc) D_ ej e

Awesome, thank you!

Three kits are fawn to the eye, but have blue under that esp. at the points, one appears almost blue on his nose~ I'm not keeping any of them.
That might reflect the possible Frosty/ ermine?

OK.
So with Clover (dam of current litter) and my light grey FG buck having been bred I should expect
A_ B_ Ccchd D_ Eej (or maybe eje if he is Ee ?)

Which means I should expect agoutis in the black family, likely without harle and without chin? (apparently buck had black and REW behind him, along with light grey)
And I may be able to determine if there are any other recessives if I turn up a self, dilute or REW?

Does "ww" have to do with how the hairs themselves are banded or the overall coat pattern?

And extrapolating my light grey buck with my harle does when they mature:
A_ B_ Ccchd (or cchdcchd) D_ Eej (or eje)

Which could produce harle and magpie?

Like your choice of names. ;)

Can you guess what we have been reading?! LOL
My daughter insists that all the FG keep to this theme,
It was funny~ I randomly numbered the kits with sharpie in their ears.
Fiver got #5.
He is also the 5th rabbit named on theme.
My daughter thinks it is a sign ;)

In harlequins the dilute also effects the orange coat making it cream and the black banding is definitely blue and not a faded black

The Japanese harlequin gene can cause brindling in full colour (ie chestnut, chinchilla ) rabbits

Wideband really only effects non extension rabbits and expands the Orange band in the fur so their bellies are orange instead of white and they looking self orange or reds but are really agouti based.

You'll only get harli or magpie from your light chin buck if he carries non extension

OK! Thank you~ that helps.
These kits are definitely not a rich colour and the markings are blue.
Will be interesting to see what we get with the next lot ;)
